"Persons of interest" identified in Valdosta shooting

VALDOSTA — A man was hospitalized Sunday night after a shooting incident on Old Lake Park Road, while "persons of interest" have been identified in the case, say Valdosta police.

Police were called out to the 600 block of Old Lake Park Road late Sunday and found someone shot in the chest, said Cmdr. Brian Childress, Valdosta Police Department.

The man, who was alert and talking, was taken to South Georgia Medical Center, where he was in stable condition late Sunday, Childress said.

At the scene, police had blocked off a large space at the intersection of Old Lake Park Road and McDougal street surrounding a red Chevy Camaro and a gray Ford Freestar van.

Childress said police are investigating "all possibilities" and have identified some "persons of interest" in the case.
