VALDOSTA —
A weekend traffic stop led to the recovery of several stolen credit cards as investigators worked Monday to locate the victims, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
Four suspects have been arrested in the case, said Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.
Courtney Anthony Coney, 27, of Plantation, Fla., is charged with two counts felony financial transaction card theft; Brenton Laron Wallace, 23, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is charged with two counts felony financial transaction card theft; Vienna Marie Velella, 31, of Hollywood, Fla., is charged with two counts financial transaction card theft and one misdemeanor count giving false name to a law-enforcement officer; Evans Sanvile, 24, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is charged with two counts felony financial transaction card theft and one misdemeanor count driving with a suspended license, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspects were being held in the Lowndes County Jail Monday, awaiting arraignment. The investigation is on-going. Additional charges are pending.
At approximately 10 a.m. Saturday, July 28, the sheriff’s office Interstate Criminal Enforcement unit stopped a vehicle for a window-tint violation near the 13-mile marker of Interstate 75, according to sheriff’s office reports.
Deputies received a consent to search the vehicle during the traffic stop. Authorities found several credit cards and a Florida driver’s license for various names. Deputies detained the car’s four occupants while the credit cards were checked.
“During an investigation, deputies and investigators learned that the credit cards and driver license had been stolen from various persons and locations in south Florida,” according to the sheriff’s office report.
Ten different victims had been identified as of Monday afternoon.
The sheriff said this case reflects how the sheriff’s office’s interstate ICE unit deters crimes in Lowndes County and can prevent crimes in other regions.
