Woman shoots intruder, neighbors flock to gun shop

MONROE, Ga. — The owner of a gun shop and shooting range in Monroe says he’s seen an uptick in business since a Walton County woman shot and critically wounded an intruder.

On Friday, a woman in nearby Loganville was home with her children when she saw a suspicious man from her office window. Police say the man forced his way into the home and the woman and her children retreated to an attic. When the intruder arrived in the attic, the woman shot him five times. Police say the man — who is still in critical condition — had no relation to the would-be victim.

WGCL-TV reports (bit.ly/10a0UwL) the random nature of the incident motivated neighbors to consider buying guns to protect themselves in the event of a burglary or home invasion.
