DALTON, Ga. —
Charges aren’t expected to be filed against a girl who dropped a shotgun which discharged and left two people injured at a gun range in northwest Georgia.
Whitfield County Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Swiney told the Dalton Daily Citizen (http://bit.ly/XA80qI ) the girl accidentally dropped the double-barrel shotgun at the Chestnut Mountain Shooting Range in Dalton Saturday afternoon.
Swiney says the girl was with a group of people and was under adult supervision when the accident happened. He says the force of the shotgun blast caused the girl to drop the gun, leading it to discharge again.
Some of the pellets hit two people about 10 yards away in their legs. Swiney says they were taken to the Hamilton Medical Center.
Dalton is about 90 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
