VALDOSTA —
The Valdosta Fire Department has confirmed that the smoke seen above the Savannah Avenue tree line is coming from Earth Care Products, a company on Briggs Street that burns wood pellets to produce a coal replacement. The smoke and flames are actually coming from the top of the company’s smoke stack as a result of the burning of the off gases from the process, for which the company has a valid permit. There are no environmental concerns or threats to residents. Earth Care Products is temporary and will be in the current location approximately three weeks.
Questions may be directed to the Fire Marshal’s office at (229) 333-1836.
