Debate over biomass heats up

Over the last two months since the Lowndes County Industrial Authority held a discussion for the community about their biomass construction project, correspondence between Brad Lofton, executive director for the Lowndes County Industrial Authority, and Dr. Michael Noll, president of Wiregrass Activists for Clean Energy (WACE) has been brought forward to The Valdosta Daily Times to be published.
While only a certain amount of the exchange can be published due to limitations of space, certain segments highlighting the attitudes and evidence of the two exchanges can. Also, both men were contacted separately to give their opinions about the exchange and any problems they have encountered working with each other.
The majority of correspondence began on Christmas Eve and escalated through Jan. 6. Each man attempted to share evidence supporting his argument until around Dec. 28, when it becomes clear that Lofton was no longer willing to respond with rebuttals to Noll’s claims through e-mail.
Noll continued insisting that scientific fact be shown regarding the health issues of the biomass incineration plant and has refused to meet with Lofton in person.
