Seven Vikings sign college football scholarships
Seven Lowndes football players committed to play college football during a National Signing Day ceremony at Lowndes High School Wednesday afternoon.
Of the seven, only one, safety and return specialist Tiquan Lang, signed with a Division I program. The other six players all signed with Division II programs, including three to Valdosta State. -
Three Wildcat linemen sign their letters of intent
Last season, one of the Valdosta Wildcats’ biggest strengths was its offensive line.
The offensive line opened holes for a rushing attack that accumulated over 2,000 yards on the ground. It protected a quarterback (Shelby Wilkes) who threw for 1,738 yards and 16 touchdowns. It played a big role for an offense that averaged 29 points per game. -
VSU softball opens title defense with pair of wins over Southern Arkansas
Valdosta State started the 2013 season the same way the Blazers ended 2012. In the 2012 NCAA Division II National Championship game, Courtney Albritton led off with a home run. She did the same Saturday in the season opener against Southern Arkansas. Valdosta State’s heavy bats continued throughout the day for five home runs en route to 6-0 and 7-3 victories over the Muleriders to start the season 2-0.
