VALDOSTA — The southbound lanes on N. Patterson St. near Park Ave. are closed while officials from Georgia Power Company replace a downed power line. A telephone poll was hit around 11 a.m. by a motorist knocking it in half. The two southbound lanes are merging into the turn lane to detour around the crews working.
Crews on the scene expect the repairs to be complete and the lanes to reopen by mid to late afternoon today. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving in this area.

Valdosta’s Rance Gillespie and Lowndes’ Randy McPherson both think their football teams got better during the recent 10 days of spring practice.
Then again, both coaches know their teams have a ways to go before the start of the football season.
