WHITE SPRINGS, Fla. — Andy M. Larsen III, 54, of White Springs, Fla., died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Shands Lakeshore Hospital in Lake City, Fla., after a brief illness. He was born on Dec. 20, 1946, in Valdosta and lived in White Springs for the last 20 years. Mr. Larsen was an Eagle Scout with Troop No. 403 and was a 1964 graduate of Valdosta High School where he played Varsity Tennis. From 1966 to 1970, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a certified electrician, and was assigned to Strategic Air Command. His military career included a tour in Vietnam from 1968-1969, before he was honorably discharged in 1970. In 1980, he opened White Springs Automotive NAPA Auto Parts Store. He was a member of the local VFW No. 1777 and a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Survivors include his son, A.M. “Mark” Larsen IV of Austin, Texas; father, A.M. “Hambone” Larsen of Valdosta; brother, Thurman Larsen of Valdosta; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mark would like to thank these special friends, Bobby Bullard, T.D. Jenkins, Don and Beverly Davis, Kathy Freeman and Norman Hager, all of White Springs, Fla., for all of their help during this sad time. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Gertrude Davis Larsen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church with Father Peter Ingeman and Deacon Stella Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Christ Episcopal Church. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
