VALDOSTA — In less than a month, Jessica Herring will bring her aggressive style of play to the Thomas University soccer team.

Herring, a Valdosta native who was one of Tift County High’s top players last season, recently signed a scholarship to play soccer at Thomas.

“I’m looking forward to playing at Thomas, and becoming a better soccer player,” Herring said.

Herring was one of Tift’s best players last year, scoring five goals and frequently setting up scoring opportunities for All-Region selections Mandy Oatman and Melissa Lomax. She also provided steady defense for the Lady Blue Devils. Her play earned Herring an honorable mention All-Region selection, and her teammates voted her the team’s Outstanding Striker.

Herring was also an accomplished student at school. Her teachers at Tift County selected her a Senior Superlative this year.
