Lucius E. “L. E.” Corbitt
HOMERVILLE — Mr. Lucius E. “L.E.” Corbitt, 74, of Homerville passed away Wednesday evening in the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. A native of Clinch County, he had lived here most of his life. He was a retired carpenter and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was the son of the late James Daniel Corbitt and Fannie Bell Steedly Corbitt. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Steedly and Martha Jane Flemming; five brothers, Randell Corbitt, Melton Corbitt, Horace Corbitt, Talmadge Corbitt and David Corbitt. Survivors are two daughters, Amanda Corbitt, N.C. and Ann Corbitt, Blackshear; five sons, Mike Corbitt, Homerville, Luke Corbitt, Jr., and David Corbitt, both of Jacksonville, Fla., James Corbitt, N.C., Billy Jo Corbitt, Blackshear; two sisters, Jessie Mae Morris and Ira Bell Tiner, both of Homerville; two brothers, Herman Corbitt, Homerville and Bruce Corbitt, Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and several other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Corbitt will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Chapel of Roundtree Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the Camp Branch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Manor. Mary H. Douglas
VALDOSTA — Mary H. Douglas, 84, Valdosta, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at a local residence. She was born on April 1, 1918, in Cuthbert, Ga. to the late William John and Beulah Redding Price. Mrs. Douglas was a school teacher in the public school system and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her son, Roger E. Douglas, Lake Park; and brother, Reid Price, Cuthbert, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Gardner Douglas. Private graveside services were held for Mrs. Douglas Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
Dallas Hammond
PINETTA, Fla. — Dallas Hammond, 86, of Pinetta, Fla. died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Hammond was a native of McKenzie, Ala., a past resident of Jasper, Fla. and had been a resident of Pinetta for 38 years. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Methodist Church and had retired as a Baptist Minister. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by two sons, Hal “Buddy” Hammond and Walter Hammond; six grandchildren; and two great- great- grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Irene Hammond; one son, Marlin Hammond of Dothan, Ala.; four daughters, Alma Agner of Lee, Fla., Wynona Campbell of Milledgeville, Juanita Parker of Holly Hill, S.C., Dorothy Atchison of Anderson, Ala.; one brother, Mac R. Hammond of Dalesville, Ala.; one sister, Hattie Hammond of Jacksonville, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 37 great- grandchildren; nine great- great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, in the Hickory Grove Methodist Church, Pinetta, Fla. with burial in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. ADEL — Mr. Bobby D. Moore, 66, of Adel died on Nov. 13, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born on Sept. 2, 1946, in Cook County to the late Littleton “Lit” and Elma Brown Moore. Mr. Moore lived all of his life in Cook and Berrien Counties. He was a farmer for many years in Cook and Berrien Counties. In most recent years he owned and operated a trucking business. He is preceded in death by one son, Warren L. “Chuck” Moore. He is survived by his wife, Faye McNabb Moore of Adel; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Perry of Nashville; daughter-in-law, Sharon F. Moore of Sparks; grandchildren, Chad and Chance Moore of Sparks, Jason, Sara and Stephanie Perry, of Nashville; one sister, Mrs. Jimmie M. Lindsey of Tallahassee, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ch

Jim Oscar Motes Sr.
VALDOSTA — Jim Oscar Motes Sr., 73, died Nov. 11, 2002. He was born on March 12, 1929, in Quincy, Fla., to the late Levi Motes and Cora Belle Fowler. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Homer Fowler. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and dedicated companion of over 30 years, Ella Jean Riser of Valdosta; his children, three daughters, Linda Motes, Renva Motes Stoney, both of Valdosta, and Jacqueline Motes Baker of Clarksville, Tenn.; four sons, Levi Vinson of Miami, Fla., Jim B. Motes, Jr. (Chakunna), Jeffery Motes (Tina), and Nakea Motes (Beverly), all of Valdosta; three stepchildren, Lena Riser Stafford (Roderick), Matthew Riser and Pastor Tim Riser (Valerie), all of Valdosta; one sister, Annabelle Burton of Miami, Fla.; and one brother, Leroy Motes of Quincy, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Also his devoted cousins; the children of the late Josie Wilson. NASHVILLE — Kim I’na Zirkle, 39, of Nashville died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 29, 1962, in Mitchell County to Eston and Lydia Wilder Morrison. Mrs. Zirkle was a homemaker and shipping clerk with Nashville Mills; a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham and was a loving mother and wife who died from complications during the birth of her daughter, Markaela. She is survived by her husband, Mark Zirkle of Nashville; one daughter, Markaela Zirkle of Nashville; three sons, Dustin Harper, Douglas, Zack Harper, and Maison Zirkle, both of Nashville; father and mother, Eston and Lydia Morrison, Pelham; three sisters, Gwanna Strickland, Sheila Collins, both of Moultrie, Cheri Bentley, Pelham; one brother, Charles Morrison of Wiggins, Miss.
