Golla Bell Coody Barrett
VALDOSTA — Golla Bell Coody Barrett, 90, of Valdosta died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 3, 1912, to the late Frank and Ella Adams Coody and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mrs. Barrett was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Judy Barrett and James Barrett; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marcell and Earl Gaskin, Virginia and Foster Fletcher, Shirley Lieupo and Alice Rickman, all of Valdosta; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Barrett Sr., and a daughter, Ethel Perdue. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at Mt. Zion Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Cotterill and Rev. Maxine Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Daisy Kent Smith
NASHVILLE — Daisy Kent Smith died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center. She was born in Lowndes County to Sylvester M. Drawdy and Lucinda Belle Tyler and attended Nashville United Methodist Church. Ms. Smith was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husbands. Earnest Kent, who died in 1968 and Judge E.R. Smith, who died in 1983, and a son, Talmadge Kent, who died in 2002. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Louise Kent of Nashville; two grandsons, Larry and Tony Kent, both of Nashville, three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday morning one hour prior to services. — Lovein Funeral Home
Bobby Wood
RAY CITY — Bobby Wood, 66, of Ray City, died Saturday Oct. 5, 2002, at Berrien County Hospital. Born June 13,1936 in Berrien County to John Edward Wood and Leona Mathis, Mr. Wood was a carpenter and a member of Ministry Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Tereasa Hancock Wood of Ray City; one daughter, Nancy Curry of Nashville; two sons, Kenneth Wood of Adel and Eddie Wood of Ray City; one sister, Murtell Bridges of Ray City, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Graveside funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Cemetery with Rev. Wally Montgomery and Rev. James Cooper officiating. — Lovein Funeral Home

Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Mae Minor Cherry will be held today, October 6, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. at the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Quitman with Dr. James Redman officiating.
