Dr. Worth C. Green Jr.

VALDOSTA — Dr. Worth C. Green Jr., 80, died on Monday, July 29, 2002, at home in Valdosta. He was born in Waycross on Oct. 23, 1921, to the late Worth C. and Mae Slayton Green. During WWII, Dr. Green served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Marine Corp, flying the F4U (the Corsair) in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, Dr. Green graduated from the University of Georgia and Emory University School of Dentistry. He practiced general dentistry for 37 years in Valdosta. A founding member of the Georgia Academy of Dental Practice, he was a member of the Georgia Dental Association, the Southwestern Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Dr. Green was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Valdosta and the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Callahan Green; daughters, Gail Brannen and her husband, Bill Brannen Jr of Savannah, Leigh Koski of Athens; son, Glenn Worth Green and his wife, Jane, of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, William F. Brannen III, Ashley Brooke Brannen, Heather Joy Koski, Stephanie Elise Koski, Patrick Henry Green and Grace Elizabeth Green. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. James Pitts and the Rev. Mac Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church after the service. Dr. Green will be cremated. Ora Lee Spearman

VALDOSTA — Sis. Ora Lee Spearman, 82, of Valdosta, died on July 27, 2002, at Crestwood Nursing Home. She was born on July 21, 1920, in Lowndes County to the late Phyllis Wade. She was educated in the Lowndes County School System. She was a retired restaurant cook, a member of Day Spring Missionary Baptist Church, a deaconess and a member of the Spearman Gospel Singers for 27 years. Mrs. Spearman is survived by her husband, Deacon Clarence Spearman; two daughters and son-in-law, Rosa Perry and Bernice Barnes (Melvin), all of Valdosta; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Alma Williams (Bunnis), Renee Williams (Otto), James E. Perry, Larry W. Perry, all of Valdosta, Melvin D. Barnes Jr. (Mary) and Marvin D. Barnes, both of Houston, Texas, Ricky C. Barnes of Phoenix, Ariz., Randy Barnes (Freda) of Valdosta; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five sisters and brother-in-law, Louise Williams, Agnes Burgman, Pinkie Bridges, Eloise Britt (Oscar) and Alice Miller, all of Valdosta. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31 at Day Spring Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, Valdosta, with Pastor Charlie Dunbar officiating. Caroline Alexis Tolle

JASPER, Fla. — Caroline Alexis Tolle, 55, of Jasper, went on to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, July 29, 2002. She was born in Waycross on Feb. 27, 1947, and had made her home in Jasper since 1968. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a servant to her community, words cannot express the depth of her love for family and friends. Mrs. Tolle was supervisor of Elections for Hamilton County, Fla. She attended Burnham Christian Church in Jennings, Fla., was a member of the Womens Club of Jasper and was active with the Salvation Army in Hamilton County. Survivors are her husband, John Tolle of Jasper; children, Dana and P.J. Fouraker of White Springs, Fla., Davina and John Young of Waycross, Albert and Kim Tolle of Jacksonville, Fla., Allen and Stacie Tolle of Jasper, Andy Tolle of Jasper; grandchild, Aaron Young of Waycross; parents, C.R. and Bettie Lou Jeffords of Waycross; sisters, Sylvia Norris of Auburn, Ala., Racheal Settle of Waycross, Bettie Matthews of Lake Park, Elaine Tatum of Jacksonville, Fla., Celeste Stephens of Macon; brother, Raymond Jeffords of Shelby, N.C.; numerous





nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and David Earl Jeffords. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Burnham Christian Church, Jennings, Fla. The Rev. Mark Owens and the Rev. Carlton Ring will officiate. Burial will follow in Waresboro Cemetery. Francis Kenneth Tuten

JASPER, Fla. — Francis Kenneth Tuten, 80, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Suwannee Healthcare following an extended illness. Tuten was a native of Jasper where he served for 28 years as Hamilton County Property Appraiser. He was a member of Jasper First Presbyterian Church, was Scout Master for several years and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Tuten. Survivors include three sons, Francis Kenneth and Charles Anthony Tuten, both of Jasper, and Andrew John Tuten, Lee, Fla.; two daughters, Jan Tuten Ricard, Austin, Texas, and Yolande Tuten Vargason, Jasper; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 31 in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper.
