Frankie K. Bridges

VALDOSTA — Frankie K. Bridges, 78, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at her residence. She was born on Jan. 16, 1923, in Richmond County to the late John Bowdry and Lucille Lane King. Mrs. Bridges was a retired school teacher and a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Carol G. Brooks of Valdosta; one son and daughter-in-law, John Michael (Mike) and Shawn Gibbons of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Tyler Brooks, Elizabeth Gibbons, Bill Gibbons and Jed Gibbons; two sisters, Libby Cathy of Milledgeville and Dot Pilling of North Augusta, S.C. Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her husbands, William James (Bill) Gibbons and Robert F. Bridges. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Phillip West officiating. Burial will be held in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Martelle Copeland Burnett

MADISON, Fla. — Martelle Copeland Burnett, 77, of Madison, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Madison. She was a native of Chuluota, Fla., and had lived in Madison since 1931. She owned her own catering business. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Madison. She is survived by two sons, John Wayne (Buddy) Burnett Sr. and Anthony Jerome (Jere) Burnett, both of Madison; two daughters, Robyn Langford of Madison and Judith (Judy) Sparks of Lake Park; three brothers, John Phillip Copeland of Jacksonville, Fla., Robert Benjamin Copeland of Atlantic, Fla., and James McDonald Copeland of Madison; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel, Madison. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Madison. Gladys Sue Fulp

ADEL — Gladys Sue Fulp, 83, of Adel, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at her home. She was born on Dec. 18, 1917, in Colquitt County to the late Zack T. and Sudie Sharpe Taylor and had lived in Cook County for many years. Mrs. Fulp was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Cecil. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Joe Wall of Cecil; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Pat Fulp of Sacramento, Calif., and Paul and Joyce Fulp of Adel; seven grandchildren and their spouses, David and Cindy Wall of Adel, Greg Wall of Cecil, Mike Fulp of Sacramento, Scotty Fulp of Adel, Jamie and Sonya Fulp of Hahira, Robin and Don Linder of Sacramento, Sharon and Tony Barker of Hahira; six great-grandchildren, Britt Wall, Sam Wall, Emily Wall, Elaina Fulp, Caleb Fulp, Melody Rose Linder; one sister, Bessie Hancock of Alturas, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Willard Fulp and one sister, Robbie Nell Taylor. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Roscoe Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery. Mrs. Fulp will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Edward Hollingsworth Jr.

MADISON, Fla. — Edward Hollingsworth Jr., 43, of Madison, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at his home. He was born in Valdosta and was a lifelong resident of Madison County, Fla. He was a bookkeeper and office manager at Dixie Packers, Inc., of Madison and a member of First Methodist Church in Madison where he was the assistant church organist and a choir member. He also was former comptroller for Madison County Memorial Hospital. Ruth Marie Peck

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Ruth Marie Peck, 81, passed away Nov. 13, 2001. She was born in Lowndes County and had lived most of her life in the Jacksonville area. Mrs. Peck was a homemaker; a volunteer with her husband at Camp Tracy Children’s Home in Baker County, and a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 37 years, David S. Peck; three children, Jack Webb, St. Augustine, Fla., W. Richard Webb (Janett), Ormand Beach, Sandra Curran (George), Jacksonville, and Bobby N. Webb (Jane), Buford, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Paul, Barney and Don Griffis; and a sister, Helen Northcutt of Valdosta.
