Mary Hogan Bryan
JASPER, Fla. — Mary Hogan Bryan, 89, Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at her home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Hamilton County. Mrs. Bryan was born March 26, 1913. She was an active member of the Jasper First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women for 49 years. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 199 for 50 years. Survivors include her son, John Edward Bryan (Gerry), Vero Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Lola Head (Donnie), Melrose, Fla., and Barbara Nicoletti, Jasper, Fla.; six grandchildren, Charles Randall Zipperer, William Edward and Ronald Louis Bryan, Kathryn Bryan Humphreys, Victor and Andrew Nicoletti; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Isabel Freeman, Lake City, Fla.; one brother, LeRoy Hogan, Jasper; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Wilkerson, Woodstock; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Broward Edward Bryan. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 13 at First United Methodist Church in Jasper. Linda Huffmaster Holton
SAVANNAH — Linda Huffmaster Holton, 46, of Savannah, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Memorial Health Center. Born in Brooks County, she was the daughter of William Bruce and Louise Bradford Huffmaster. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, Scott Holton, Savannah; daughter, Sarah Holton, Savannah; sisters, Geraldine (Earl) Peters, Quitman, Betty (Dewey) Elsberry, Quitman, Jean (Wilmer) Wheeler, Quitman; and brother, Marlen (Marsha) Huffmaster of Quitman. CLYATTVILLE — Flavil Homer McLeod, 90, of Clyattville, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in Valdosta on Dec. 7, 1912, to the late Eugene and Carrie Sellers McLeod. Mr. McLeod was a retired farmer and owner of McLeod’s Trailer Park. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Clara Louise and Marlin Sims, Valdosta, Mary Catherine Simpson, Dublin; one son and daughter-in-law, George Roswell and Martiele McLeod, Perry; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Soles, West Palm Beach, Fla., Thelma Allbritton, Bradenton, Fla.; and dear friends, Elizabeth Lineberger, Clyattville, Ercilia Delgado, Clyattville, and Deana Lineberger, Valdosta. Richmond Eugene Ratliff Sr.
TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. — Richmond Eugene Ratliff Sr., 73, died on Monday, Dec. 9, 2002. He was a native of Taylor County, Fla., and a resident of Clermont, Fla. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Winter Garden, Fla. He was a master of the Masonic Order Riverside Lodge No. 124 in West Virginia. He was a wonderful husband, loving father with great character. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Gator fan. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pearl M. Green Ratliff. He was a saw filer with an industrial saw manufacturing company. He was the son of the late Eugene Ratliff and Lillie Parker Ratliff. He is survived by his wife, Frances (Huggins) Ratliff of Clermont, Fla.; two sons, Richmond E. Ratliff Jr. of Leominster, Mass., Robert Kent Ratliff of Roanoke, Va.; two stepsons, Dean Windham and wife Becky of Lake City, S.C., and Brad Windham and wife Lisa of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Casey Smith and husband Lee of Gainesville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Karen McClary
and husband Russell of Kingstree, S.C.; three brothers, Wayne Ratliff, Royce Ratliff, both of Perry Fla., and Ronnie Ratliff of Starke, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins also survive him. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home Chapel with viewing one hour prior to service with Brother Dave Pleasant and the Rev. Johnnie Neal officiating. Leo Tinsley
BOSTON — Leo Tinsley, 56, of Boston, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Thomas County, he was a resident of Brooks County most of his life. He was the son of Toby Dale and Lucille Calhoun Tinsley. He was a heavy machinery mechanic, member of the Baptist faith, and veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Tinsley of Boston; mother, Lucille Norman of Barwick; children, Randy Strickland, Boston, Edgar Strickland, Clearwater, Fla., Paul Strickland, and Brenda Causey, both of Boston, Sherry Blanchard, Thomasville, Beth Sapp and Ronnie McBride, Quitman, Debbie Waldrep, Thomasville, and a special friend, Kent Matrin; two grandchildren; three sisters, Nadine Wilson, Quitman, Ruth White, Cairo, Mary Jane Walker, Barwick; two brothers, Johnny Tinsley, Dundee, Fla., and David Tinsley, Pavo. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Evergreen Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Love officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Church Cemetery. William E. ‘Bill’ Watson
NASHVILLE — William E. “Bill” Watson, 70, of Nashville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 29, 1932, in Lanier County to James Pleasant and Osra Roberts Watson. Mr. Watson was retired from civil service, was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a Master Mason affiliated with Lakeland Masonic Lodge. He was a very loving husband and father who deeply loved his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Lee Watson, who died in 1956, and a brother, James P. Watson Jr., who died in 1979. He is survived by his wife, Marie Collins Watson of Nashville; three sons, Bobby Watson, Travis Watson and David Watson, all of Nashville; four grandchildren, Michelle Davis, Mellisa Watson, Chris Watson, Amanda Vickers; one great-grandson, Tristen Vickers; and two sisters, Osra Blanton of Nashville and Idell Wetherington of Homerville. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13 in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Junior Swain and the Rev. Johnny Hendley officiating. Burial will be in Empire Cemetery.
