Khiry Hakeen Eugene Mathis
VALDOSTA — Khiry Hakeen Eugene Mathis was born on Feb. 6, 1991, in Adel to Sherand Johnson and Cedric De-Ronne Bell. Khiry attended Moulton Branch Elementary School where he was active in football and basketball. On Oct. 2, 2001, at 11:45 p.m., God call him home to be with him at South Georgia Medical Center at the age of 10 years old. He leaves to cherish his memories a caring mother Sherand Johnson and step father, Patrick Johnson; his father, Cedric De-Ronne Bell; four sisters, Lantana Mathis, Tiera Mathis, Keondra Prothro and Zashanae Brinson; two brothers, Janaid and Akeem Mathis; grandparents, Ronald and Shirley Ann Williams, Lent Bell, Sr. and Nina Bell; grandfather, Cortez Smith; great- grandparents, Gladys Zanders, and Willie Zanders, Ervin Bell and Carrie Mae Bell, Luvenia Williams and the late John Williams; five aunts, Laticia, Doris, Rita, Renee and Eureka Bell; five uncles, Frank Mathis, Antwan Mathis, Larry Simpson, Lent Bell, Jr. (Conswela) and Derrell Bell; 15 great aunts; 10 great- uncles; four special cousins, Malik Rogers, Rajayce Rogers, Diamond Bell and Nikoyea NeSmith; special friends and family; God mother, Shwanda Sims, LaKeisha Barnes; God father, Antione Sims and Austin Cater; special friends, Bernard Cumbie and Marcus Rogers; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ, 1515 N. Forrest Street. Bro. Leroy Butler, Jr. is the Minister, Bro. C.E. “Gene” Godfrey will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. After committal rites, the family will receive friends at 205 East Martin L. King Drive. — Scott and Roberts Mortuary
Cassandra A. Rivers Warren
HAHIRA — Mrs. Cassandra A. Rivers Warren, 49, of Hahira died on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was born on Dec. 17, 1951, in Lowndes County to the late Theo and Katie Bess Chandler Davis Rivers. She joined Bethel AME Church at an early age. She graduated from Westside High School Class of ‘1969’. She worked at J. L. Newbern Middle School. She is preceded in death by her mother and her aunt, Carrie B. Miley. Mrs. Warren leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Laverne Rivers and Mitzi Lashon Rivers Sipp (Willie) of Valdosta; one sister, Patricia Harrison of Augusta; two brothers, Calvin Kenneth Rivers and Freeman Rivers (Linda) of Hahira; two aunts, Almeta Jones of Decatur and Lena Livingston of Newark, N.J.; grandchildren, Vincent Williams, Jr., Dashawn Rivers, Willie D. Sipp, III and Jaylon R. Sipp; one niece and one nephew, Jamie and Patrick Harrison of Augusta; God mother, Mamie Hammond of Hahira; first cousins, Venus, Almera, Isaac, Shirley, Al, and her cousin Clymoteen Jones; special friends Joann Howard of Miami, Fla., Rosa Lee Jackson of Valdosta and Frances Ashley of Augusta; also a host of cousins and sorrowing friends. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethel AME Church in Hahira, the Rev. Cliffton Dotson, Sr., pastor officiating. William E. “Bill” Schultz, 80, of Valdosta, died on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001,. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday. — Carson McLane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
