ALAPAHA — Grover Page Browning, 97, died on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at the Berrien County Hospital. Born Oct. 5, 1904 in Clinch County to John Moreland Browning and Effie Everett, he was a retired farmer and member of the Rowetown Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Exum Browning, who died in 1997. He is survived by two daughters, Effie Lee (Eddie) Vickers of Alapaha, and Ludell (Donnis) Williams of Omega; seven sons, Grover P. “Buck” (Marjorie) Browning Jr. of Nashville, Jesse Lee (Ernestine) Browning of Reidsville, J.B. (Lorene) Browning of Nashville, Vinson (Ailon) Browning of Nashville, Herbert Browning of Alapaha, Robert Browning of Alapaha, and Russell Browning of Nashville; one sister, Ola Carpenter of Nashville; 32 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday Sept. 2, 2002 at 2 p.m., at the Rowetown Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Bennett and the Rev. Clarence Luke officiating. VALDOSTA — Robert Shellie Royal, 63, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Royal was born in Lowndes County to the late Donovan and Lou Annie Royal. He had served in the Army with the 82nd Airborne Division, was retired as a construction superintendent, a former member of Alapaha Lodge No. 209 and a member of the Airport Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Angela Louise and Alvin Edwards of Paulding County, and Rachael Michelle Royal of Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, Ronald Shellie royal of Dallas, Ga; a sister Rilla Anne Cooper of Wauchula, Fla; and five grandchildren, Candice June Williamson, Christie Leigh Williamson, Lance Starnes, Alisha Starnes and Tyler Starnes all of Paulding County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Betty Jane royal; his daughter, Melody June Medley and his brother, Don S. Royal Jr. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Keith Olbricht will officiate. VALDOSTA — C.O. Swilley, 88, of Valdosta, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in Lowndes County on April 2, 1914 to the late Mr. and Mrs. W.P. Swilley. Mr. Swilley was a farmer and a member of Grace Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emey Lee Swilley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wyonne and Larry Templin and Shelia and Phillip Badley, all of Valdosta; five sons and six daughters-in-law, Lavon and Sharon Swilley, Donald and Carole Swilley, all of Valdosta, Leohn and Kay Swilley of Quitman, Johnny and Wanda Swilley and Wayne and Maxine Swilley and Jo Ann Swilley, all of Valdosta, and 21 grandchildren and their spouses, Robin and Victor Wade, Laurie and David Dawson, Mark Swilley, Donnie and Donna Swilley, Debbie and Scott McBrayer, Chuck and Michelle Smith, Larry and Nikie Smith, Lori and Brent Lehman, Shelia Scott, Christopher Bartley, Andrew Swilley, Tim and Tonya Swilley, Danny and Dana Swilley, Wendy and Ben Neal, Kevin Swilley, Scott and Kimberly Templin, Stacey and Nelson Reynolds, Belinda Swilley, Tiffany Swilley, Joshua Badley and Caleb Badley, 19 great grandchildren, brother, Roscoe Swilley of Echols County and a sister, Cenova Wilkins of Plant City, Fla. He is preceded in death by his parents , Sallie Herring and Cubie Watford, one brother, P.F. Swilley and three grandsons, Michael Swilley, Keith Swilley and David Swilley. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Phillip Badley will officiate. Burial will follow at Swilley Hill Cemetery. Evelyn Courtney Parramore, 93, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 in Bolivar, Tenn. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Carson McLane Inc.
