James Marshall Corbett



VALDOSTA — James Marshall Corbett was born on May 4, 2001, and died on Thursday, June 28, 2001, in Macon. He is survived by his father, Maynard Corbett and future stepmother, Anita Glenn of Valdosta; preceded in death by his mother, Karen Jamieson Corbett; also survived by his future stepgrandparents, Juanita and Del Glenn of Valdosta; grandfather, Arnold Corbett of Lake Park; grandmother, Ruby Lane Corbett of Clyattville; aunt, Michelle Jamieson of Valdosta; godfather, Kenneth Musgrove of Valdosta. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Marshall Orr and Claire Beatrice Lord Jamieson. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Brian Sayre and Father John O’Brien officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home then process to the cemetery. — Carson McLane Funeral Home



Agnes L. Howell Deas



JASPER, Fla. — Agnes L. Howell Deas, 87, of Jasper, passed away Friday, June 29, 2001, at Heritage House in Valdosta following an illness of some time. The Hamilton County, Fla., native was a homemaker and member of Jasper First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Joe S. Howell and husband and loving companion of the last 13 years, John Hall “Pete” Deas. She is survived by two sons, Bobby C. Howell (Carolyn), Jennings, Fla., and Richard C. Howell (Delores), Jasper, Fla.; two daughters, Joan H. Hartman (Ernie), Valdosta and A. Sharon Page (Bill), Clearwater, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Howie Hartman, Kevin Hartman, Eric Howell, Clark Howell, Tommy Tepper, Ashley Howell, Shawnyce Hartman and Amy Tepper; two great-grandchildren, Yancey Hartman and Payton Howell. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Jennings United Methodist Church, Jennings, Fla. Burial will follow in Lake Park Cemetery, Lake Park. Kirby Farmer



VALDOSTA — Kirby Farmer, 87, of Valdosta, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at home. Mrs. Farmer was born on March 3, 1914, in Tifton to the late Sam and Mattie Kinchen Askew. She was the widow of the late Robert Farmer. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lee Barber and Minnie Lee Johnson; four brothers, Eddie B., Oscar, Sing, J.B. Askew; two nephews, Charles Askew and Wayne Stafford. At an early age, she joined Morning Star Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Tridestone Holiness Church. Mother Farmer leaves to cherish her memories six sisters, Pearline Askew Simmons with whom she resided, Flora Harrison, Jessie (Frank) Lester, Nellie Lumpkin of Valdosta, Nora Stafford of Jacksonville, Fla., Ernestine (Nathaniel) Arnold of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one stepson, Theodore Farmer of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Belvet Griffin, Beth Brown, Patricia Davis, Theodore Farmer Jr., Yolanda Farmer of Jacksonville; 11 great-grandchildren along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tridestone Holiness Church with Elder Robert Taylor officiating. Burial will be held in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Stevens Funeral Home



Walter N. Gist



JENNINGS, Fla. — Walter N. Gist, 62, of Jennings, died Thursday June 28, 2001, at his residence after a short illness. He was born on Feb. 2, 1939, in Quitaque, Texas to Bernie and Dorothy Gist. He was the owner of Shan’s West Hill Bait and Tackle and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Hilda Gist of Jennings; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Ricky Hall of Jennings; three sons and daughters-in-law, Nathan and Darleen Gist of Jennings, Bobby and DeAnna Gist of Valdosta, Jeffery and Brenda Gist of Jennings; nine grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Don Peterson of Manteca, Calif. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Gist. Funeral services will beheld at 3 p.m. Sunday in





the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Marlyn Tompkins officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Nelson Rowe



NASHVILLE — Nelson Rowe, 67, of Nashville, died Friday, June 29, 2001, at his residence. He was born on Aug. 15, 1933, in Berrien County to the late Luther and Pearl McNabb Rowe. He was a retired tobacco grader with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was the owner operator of Betty’s Bait and Tackle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Pittman Rowe, who died on Feb. 11, 1998 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Sparks of Ray City and Kathy Ball of Tifton; three brothers, Eston Rowe and William Henry “Buddy” Rowe, both of Nashville, and Dorian Rowe of Statesboro; and seven grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Flat Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Mickey Lindsey and the Rev. Gary James officiating. George F. Richardson



George F. Richardson, 79, Nashville, died June 28, 2001, at Berrien Nursing Home after a long illness. He was born on July 15, 1921 and lived most of his life in Cook County. Graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home
