Thomas M. Aligood
Thomas M. Aligood, 80, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Cener. Born on Oct. 28, 1921, in Eastover, S.C., the son of the late Manson B. and Lanie Simpson Alligood, he was formerly of Monticello, Fla. Mr. Aligood was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Aligood of Valdosta; a son, Thomas M. Aligood, Jr. of Doraville; a daughter, Ann Thomason and her companion, Butch Joslin of Valdosta; a grandson, Michael Thomason of Valdosta; a brother and sister-in-law, Hiram and Peggy Alligood of Orlando, Fla. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at Park Avenue United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with Dr. Craig Rikard oficiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Alicia Dianne Blease
Alicia Dianne Blease, 55, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at her residence after a lengthy illness. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was born in Ocilla on Aug. 28, 1946, had lived in Valdosta for the past 14 years and was a member of Charity Baptist Church, Survivors are her husband, James Blease of Valdosta; five children and their spouses, Angie Wood of Barney, Roni and Wayne Maner of West Columbia, S.C., Jeff and Robin Blease of Fitzgerald, Rick and Tracey Blease of Okinawa, Japan, Deenie and Carlton Millet of Lake Panasofkee, Fla.; ten grandchildren, William Wood, Felecia, Tori and Katie Maner, Alicia and Jennifer Blease, Josh and Kristen Blease, Michael and Samantha Millet; parents, Darby and Melba Roberts of Tifton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Louise Roberts of Enigma, Tillman Roberts of Old Town, Fla., Don and Debbie Roberts of Metamora, Mich.; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Paul Whitten of Swansea, S.C. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Charity Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating. Burial will be at Campground Cemetery. James Curtis Faulkner
James Curtis Faulkner, 79, of Nashville passed away Saturday evening Nov. 17, 2001, after a brief illness. He was born in Berrien County and had lived in Lakeland for most of his life before moving to Nashville, 20 years ago. He was manager of Dixie Oil in Lakeland and Valdosta. Survivors include his wife, Sindy Faulkner of Nashville; three daughters, Susan Reeves and Lavera Horton, both of Tifton, and Sindy Sirmans of Nashville; one son, Etheridge Lindsey of Jacksonville Fla.; and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Lakeland chapel of Music Funeral Services, with burial following in Empire Cemetery. Francis Garraghan
Francis “Gary” Garraghan, 79, of Jasper, Fla. passed away early Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2001, at Lake City VA Medical Center following an illness of some time. The Peoria, Ill., native had lived in Hamilton County for several years. He was a retired salesman for John Deere Tractor Co. and was a United States Marine Corps veteran. Mr. Garraghan was a member of Jasper First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Garraghan of Jasper; seven children, Wayne Garraghan of Mooresville, N.C., Jimmy Crews, Lake Mary, Fla., Beverly Crews Collins, Spring Hill, Fla., Wesley and Jerry Scheinsberg, both of Woodville, Fla., Richard Schweinsberg, Chame, Panama, and Susie Leckinger, Tallahassee, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jasper First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Jasper. Jimmy Steedley
Jimmy Steedley, 81, died at his home suddenly, after a period of declining health, on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001. Born in Clinch County, Mr. Steedley served in the Navy during World War II as a flying radio operator and rear gunner operator. He was retired from the Owens-Illinois paper mill and from farming for many years. He was a member of New Bethel Baptists Church. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Inez Parker Steedley of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Francene and Dennis Pickard and Debra and John Wingert, all of Valdosta; one son, Freddy Steedley from Valdosta; 10 grandchildren, Sandi Woodward of Valdosta, Kris Taylor of Nashville, Mallory Steedley of Valdosta, Scott Baker of Valdosta, Todd Baker of Valdosta, Tara Nichols of Valdosta, Justin Baker of Augusta, Lindsey Baker of Valdosta, Brandi Balmer of Valdosta, Michael WIngert of Valdosta; four great-grandchildren, Larren Woodward of Valdosta, Bryce Eason of Nashville, Trey Woodward of Valdosta, Kristin Balmer of Valdosta; his parents, J.O. and Evelyn Touchton of Valdosta; three sisters and four brothers-in-law, Sally V. Exum, Lynn and Larry Young, Jeanette Martin all of Valdosta; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews in the Cat Creek community. A graveside service will be held for Mr. Jimmy Steedley on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The visitation will be held this evening from 7-9 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Annette Strickland
Annette “Ann” Strickland, age 66, of Echols County, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001 at Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park, Fla. Mrs. Strickland retired after 30 years with Alltel and was a member of Advent Christian Church in Jasper, Fla. Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Randolph Strickland; three sons, Randy Johns and Norman Strickland and his wife Carol, all of Echols County, and Jerry Strickland and his wife Catherine of Baxley; one daughter, Kathy Banks, and her husband Billy of Live Oak, Fla.; one sister, Doris Larus, Naylor and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla. Interment will follow in Macedonia Cemetery in Mayday.
