Eula Lee Brown
VALDOSTA — Eula Lee Brown, 86, a lifetime resident of Valdosta, died on Thursday at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Daughter of the late Hubert F. and Annie Mae Coody Folsom, she was a homemaker and a member of Grace Community Church and Woodman of the World. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mack and Evelyn Shiver of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Melvin Houston of LaGrange; numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by a son, Eddie E. Shiver and her husbands, Eddie A. Shiver and Homer L. Brown. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Brother Ted Sauls officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from noon to service time Sunday. — Carson McLane Funeral Home.
Frances Avanelle Ragan
CUTHBERT — Frances Avanelle Ragan, 96, of Cuthbert, died Monday at the Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home in Cuthbert. The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Hipp officiating. Interment was in Vilulah Baptist Church Cemetery near Coleman. Mrs. Ragan was born Oct. 16, 1904 in Baker County, daughter of the late Edward L. Ingram and Fannie Grant Ingram. She was a charter member of the Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Ragan was preceded in death by her husband, Seaborn Elmer Ragan, a son, Stanley E. Ragan, and a daughter, Gloria Ragan. Survivors include her daughter, Melba R. Phillips and her husband, Henry H. Phillips, Jr. of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Cynthia June Griner of Nashville, Henry H. Phillips III of Ray City, and Stanley M. Phillips of Amarillo, Texas, four great-grandchildren, Terri Griffin, Chris Griner and Kim Griner, all of Nashville, and Stanley M. Phillips, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas, two great-great grandchildren, Cullen and Brooke Griffin of Nashville. — Lunsford Funeral Home, Cuthbert
Myrtice Vining Sirmans
PEARSON — Myrtice Vining Sirmans, 85, Rt. 1, Pearson, passed away Friday at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas following an extended illness. Born Sept. 17, 1916 in a part of Coffee County that is now Atkinson County, Mrs. Sirmans was the daughter of Jefferson Davis and Cora Delk Vining. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include five sons, Dale Sirmans and wife Helga of Norman, Okla., Maxie Sirmans and wife Dale of Pearson, C.F. Sirmans and wife Elaine of Storrs, Conn., Stacy Sirmans and wife Elaine of Tallahassee, Fla., and Steve Sirmans and wife Carolyn of Pearson; three daughters, Marie Giddens of Valdosta, Carene Brant of Pearson, Dawn Wright and husband Wendell of Pearson; one son in law, Frank Camp of Schenectady, N.Y.; one brother, George Vining of Jacksonville, Fla.; 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Sirmans was preceded in death by her husband, Clemon F. Sirmans, a son Berkeley Sirmans, a daughter Judy Hughen Camp, three grandsons, Ray Brant, Eddie Sirmans and Scott Sirmans and two sons in law, Jimmy Giddens and John Brant. Funeral services for Mrs. Sirmans will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Pearson with Bishop Lamar Park and Bishop Dan Vickers officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. this evening at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson. — Relihan Funeral Home, Pearson
Mrs. Carol Peake
Mrs. Carol Peake, 63, of Astor, Fla., died Oct. 9 at South Georgia Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Antioch United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Mosley officiating. Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
