Ramon Martin Barrales
VALDOSTA — Ramon Martin Barrales, 83, of Clyattville, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Mr. Barrales was born on Feb. 12, 1918 in Granada, Spain and had lived in Lowndes County for 50 years. Mr. Barrales was a veteran of the Army Air Corp having served in World War II and was retired from Owen-Illinois. He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist where he had served as an usher for many years. Mr. Barrales was a member of the International Club and a Shriner. Survivors include his wife, Bunnie Louise Barrales of Clyattville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Anita Louise Walker of Northville, Mich., Jane Maria and Michael Sorah of Centreville, Va.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Martin Barrales and Paul Ramon and Evelyn Barrales, all of Valdosta; eight grandchildren, Susan Owens, Theresa Owens, Jill Hughes, Michael Walker, Michael Barrales, Lisa Barrales, Mark Sorah and Michele Sorah; and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Gabriel Barrales of Orlando, Fla., and many special cousins in Granada, Spain. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Rikard and the Rev. Phillip Badley officiating. Mildred Clements Booker
SYLVESTER — Mildred Clements Booker, 77, of Sylvester, died on Oct. 16, 2001, at her son, A.M. Booker Jr.’s residence. She was born on April 5, 1924, in Lowndes County to the late Tylocus Asbury and Callie Lillian Long Clements. She lived in Worth County since 1972. She was the widow of the Rev. Allen M. Booker who preceded her in death on March 27, 1980. Mrs. Booker was a former school teacher in Lowndes, Tift and Worth Counties. She was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church and served as a church pianist for 65 years. She is survived by two sons, Alan M. (Al) Booker Jr. of Sylvester, Phillip R. (Randy) Booker of Pavo; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Grimsley of Albany. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Banks Funeral Chapel, Sylvester, with the Rev. R.E. Dorsey and the Rev. Ray Bittner officiating. Burial will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery. Patsy Wilson Childs
MARIETTA — Funeral services for Patsy Wilson Childs, 65, of Marietta, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Bethel Baptist Church, Sycamore, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Childs died Monday in Marietta after a long illness. Mrs. Childs was a native of Turner County, the daughter of the late Joseph Richard and Mary Elizabeth Mauldin Wilson. She was a realtor and a member of the First Baptist Church, Valdosta. She was a longtime resident of Valdosta before moving to Marietta in 1990. She is survived by her husband, Royce A. Childs of Marietta; son, Richard Childs of Atlanta; daughter, Dr. Cynthia Elizabeth Childs of Marietta; brother, Chester Wilson of Sycamore; sisters, Wilma Camp, Rosebud, Ore., and Zelma Pearce of Sycamore. — Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn
Braxton Flanders
NASHVILLE — Braxton Flanders, 53, of Nashville, died on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Berrien County Hospital. He was born on Nov. 15, 1947, in Hillsborough County, Fla., to Wilma Flanders Stone. He worked as a machine mechanic for Horizon in Tifton, was a Vietnam veteran with the Air Force and was a member of Springhill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Flanders is survived by his wife, Sue Lynn Corbitt Flanders of Nashville; two daughters, Kimberly Flanders and Kay Lyne Flanders, both of Nashville; one son, Keith Ryan Flanders of Perry; mother, Wilma Flanders Stone of Nashville; three si
sters, Linda Chaney of Willacoochee, Patricia Miley and Sandra Sandlin, both of Nashville; two grandsons, Marcus Harris of Nashville and Kaleb Flanders of Fitzgerald. VALDOSTA — Theartic Foster, 66, Valdosta, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 at his residence. He leaves behind a loving wife, Vernell Burgman Foster; seven children; nine grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. VALDOSTA — Allen Douglas Holt Sr., 83, of Suwannee, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. He was born on July 28, 1918 in Pineview to the late William Anthony and Tannie Adel Moore Holt. Mr. Holt was a retired Pepsi Cola Bottler and an avid sportsman. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, A.D. and Sara Holt, Tom Holt, all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Bill and Dara Holt, John and Debbie Holt, Allen and Jenni Holt, all of Valdosta, Laura Holt of Atlanta, Thomas Holt of Johnson City, Tenn., and Patricia Holt of Memphis, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Goodbread of Lake City, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Catherine Holt of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Griner Holt, a son, Bill Holt, and a sister, Carolyn Whitlock. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
