Ina Belle Weaver Brown

WAYCROSS– Funeral services for Mrs. Ina Belle Weaver Brown, 92, Baptist Village, Waycross, will be held at 11 am. Friday at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sycamore. Mrs. Brown died Tuesday at Baptist Village following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Brown was born in Berrien County and had been a resident of Sycamore for many years before moving to Baptist Village 13 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Issac Leo and Lilly Estelle Carter Weaver. She was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church and was the widow of the late Thomas E. Brown Sr. who died April 6, 1988. Survivors include her son, Thomas E. Brown Jr., Ashburn; daughters, Mary Alice Dowdy of Valdosta and Martha Anne McCard, Warwick; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Leo Weaver, Valdosta; and sister, Vera Sirmans, Barney. Donald Lee Foster

CARROLLTON– Donald Lee Foster, 47, of Carrollton, died after a short illness on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, in Cedartown. Born on June 30, 1955, in Sullivan, Ind., Mr. Foster was a Marine and was associated with USA Truck Lines. He was a member of Lake Park United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Vera Foster of Carrollton; two sons, Sean Foster and Travis Foster, both of Valdosta; parents, Gloria and Fred Foster of Valdosta; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Jimmy Sublett of Lake Park; two nephews and a niece. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Soper and the Rev. Michael P. Lyons will officiate. Burial with military honors will be held in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Willard Henry Gouge

LIVE OAK, Fla. — Willard Henry Gouge, 67, of Live Oak, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, after a sudden illness. He was born in Oxford, Pa., on May 21, 1935, to the late Nathaniel and Irene Willis Gouge and was a former resident of Valdosta and had lived in Live Oak for two years. Mr. Gouge was a superintendent with Reames Construction and a member of Suwannee River Assembly of God. Survivors include his wife, Jean Gouge of Live Oak; one daughter, Diana Gouge of Valdosta; one son, Greg Gouge of Valdosta; one sister, Mary Vickers of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, Guy Gouge of Newark, Dela., and Cliff Gouge of Clearwater, Fla.; one granddaughter, Katie Gouge of Dunellon, Fla.; one grandson, Kasey Gouge of Live Oak, Fla.; one great-grandson, Cayden Gunter of Dunellon, Fla.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Gouge. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Vince Spencer and the Rev. Thomas Edward ‘Pete’ McGhee

HOMERVILLE — Mr. Thomas Edward “Pete” McGhee, 43, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in the Shands Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla., following a brief illness. A native of Manassas, Va., he had lived in Homerville for the last two years. He was employed by Scott Harper Construction in Homerville. He was the son of the late Mary Louise Shaver McGhee. Survivors are his wife, Jean A. Rienhardt McGhee, Florida; one daughter, Crystalyn McGhee, Homerville; two sons, Thomas John McGhee and Jesse James McGhee, Homerville; his father, John Alfred “Mack” McGhee, Homerville; three sisters, Rose Mary Taylor, Eva Catherine Shreve and Samajun Edith Wiggins, all of Homerville; one brother, William MacDaniel McGhee, Homerville; special nephew, John Alfred McGhee III; great-niece, Jocelyn Rain Walker; great-nephew, Caleb Storm Walker, all of Homerville; special friend, Brenda Bryant, Homerville; and several other relatives.





A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Judy Johnston residence, 262 Prescott Road, Homerville. Prince Smith Powell Sr.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Prince Smith Powell Sr., 87, of Tallahassee, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2002, in Big Bend Hospice House of Tallahassee. He was born on March 7, 1915, in Clinch County to the late Lewis and Lillie Smith Powell. On Dec. 21, 1941, he married Rebecca Henderson of Tifton. He lived throughout Georgia, and Florida before moving to North Carolina, returning to Florida in 2000 for health reasons and to be closer to family. He attended Homerville High School and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. He operated his own auto repair shop in Valdosta and Miami, Fla. He served in the Navy Reserve and Civil Air Patrol, after which he went to work in aircraft maintenance at Warner Robins AFB in Warner Robins. He retiring in 1978 with 25 years of service from Eastern Airlines in aircraft maintenance and Eastern’s Health and Welfare Dept. A former member of Coral Gables First United Methodist Church and Sylva First United Methodist Church in Sylva, N.C., he was presently a member of Killearn Lakes United Methodist Church in Tallahassee, Fla., IAM and Southwest Masonic Lodge No. 286, Miami, Fla. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and grandson Kenneth J. Powell. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Henderson Powell, Tallahassee, Fla.; son, Prince S. Powell Jr. and wife Diane Taylor Powell, Walton, Ky.; daughter, Janice Powell Ellison and husband William Ellison, Tallahassee, Fla.; three grandchildren, Curtis Smith Powell and wife Stephanie, Charles Marshall Ellison, Amanda Rebecca Ellison; four great-grandchildren. Kyle Smith Powell, Tyler Powell, Brandon Powell and Caitlyn Powell. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, in Unity United Methodist Church, Lakeland, with burial following in Fender Cemetery. Mr. Powell will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. VALDOSTA — Phillip R. Youmans, 44, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 16, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born and had lived in Valdosta all of his life. He was Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Youmans. Survivors include his wife, Denise Youmans, Valdosta; four sons, Austin Youmans, Valdosta, Dusty Youmans, Valiant, Okla., Phillip Youmans Jr., Valdosta, Josh Barney, Valdosta; mother and stepfather, Betty and Floyd Vaughn, Valdosta; sister and brother-in-law, Katrina and Robert Spells, Valdosta; a brother, Carlton Vaughn, Valdosta; maternal grandmother, Mattie Waltz, Quitman; five aunts, Marsha Huffmaster, Quitman, Mary Irwin, Valiant, Okla., Linda King, Valiant, Okla., Mattie King, New Orleans, Catherine King, Newington; an uncle, Dorian King, Newington; and a number of other uncles, aunts, nephews and cousins.
