Rosabell Crosby
ADEL — Rosabell Crosby, 87, of Sparks, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2001 at the South Georgia Medical Center. She was born April 22, 1914 in Loris, S.C., and lived in Cook County most of her life. She was a housewife. She attended the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Alford and mother, Stella Gerald Alford and her husband, Albert E. Crosby. She is survived by one sister, Dalma Fennell, Sparks; one niece, Betty Paulk, Tifton; great-niece, Joyce Weeks, Adel; and several other great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home and the interment will be in Sparks Cemetery. Leroy Owen will officiate. Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home
William “Bill” Dickey
VALDOSTA — William “Bill” Dickey, 48, of Lake Park, passed away suddenly Friday, June 29, 2001 at his home. He was born on July 28, 1952 in St. Augustine, Fla., but had lived in Lake Park for most of his life. Mr. Dickey was a long-time employee of Packaging Corporation of America, a volunteer coach for the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Valdosta for many years, a former Lion’s Club Member and a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Rich Dickey of Lake Park; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jared and Stacy Dickey of Stockbridge, Jonathan Dickey of Lake Park; mother, Bettie Dickey of Lake Park; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Karen Dickey of Ft. Worth, Texas; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Tommy Cothron of Valdosta, JoAnne and Randy Jones of Hahira; mother-in-law, Wilma Deas of Lake Park; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Nikki and Shayle Pollen of Charleston, S.C., and Connie Gaskins of Cherry Lake, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, A.E. “Ed” Dickey. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael P. Lyons and the Rev. Richard Soper are to officiate. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Louise Griffis
ADEL — Louise Griffis, 74, of Adel, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2001 at the Memorial Hospital of Adel. She was born Feb. 7, 1927 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and lived in Cook County most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Adel. She was a retired ASCS. She was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Jackson and mother, Effie Dukes Jackson. She is survived by her husband, Virgil Griffis of Adel; and one son, Denny Griffis of Athens. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Woodlawn City Cemetery. Dr. Mike Ruffin will officiate. Nina Treadaway Smith
QUITMAN — Nina Treadaway Smith, 93, of Atlanta, died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta after a brief illness. She was born in Brooks County and was the daughter of Ira and Sallie Dampier Treadaway. She was a library director for the state of Georgia having founded the Kinchafoonee Library in Dawson and was a member of the Second Ponce De Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta. She was an avid traveler, graduate of The University of Georgia and Peabody College, Nashville, Tenn. She is survived by one son; S. Jay Smith, daughter-in-law and friend, Virginia Smith of Atlanta; and one granddaughter; Katharine Anne Smith of Atlanta. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Maxwell-Miller Chapel with the Rev. Clay Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends fro

Elwood Webb
VALDOSTA — Elwood Webb, 87, of Hahira, died suddenly Friday, June 29, 2001. He was born on March 20, 1914 in Hahira to the late Eli D. Webb Jr. and Tobitha Stalvey Webb. Mr. Webb was a retired farmer and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry Webb and Donal and Sammie Webb; five grandchildren, Anglia Webb, Larry Webb Jr., Aubrey Webb, Monica Webb and Perry Webb; one great-grandchild, Chloe Webb, all of Hahira; and one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Edna Webb of Barney. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Mosley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
