Bitten twice

“Thanks to the city for such a good job they did spraying the mosquitoes earlier, but they are about to eat us up again. I hope the city can find it possible to spray again.”

Shallow man

“During my lifetime, I have lived under 14 presidents and have been a scholar of the presidency since the 1940s. In all my experience, I have never encountered anyone to be unprepared as George W. Bush. He is so shallow that a gallon of water poured on him will spread out to two square miles.”

Necessities

“Why don’t they have a couple of portable potties in Drexel Park? It will help things a lot.”

Be decisive

“I cannot believe Ricky Rowe abstained from voting on the middle school project. Surely he has an opinion or is he just a fence rider? That probably is the reason the Cleveland Field renovation project hasn’t gone anywhere. He is the chairman of that committee and just can’t make a decision.”

Rare generosity

“Thanks to the Lowndes County Tag Office. Recently we went there to get our tags and a water hose busted on our car and they lent us the tools to fix it and they knew we had three small children in the car and they sent out some ice cold apple juice for them and also gave us water for the radiator. It is not often people go out of their way like this and I would like to thank them so much.”

Unjust hiring

“Could someone please explain to me why a 16-year-old college prep student with a 4.0 grade point average is being turned down for jobs while 17- and 18-year-old dropouts are given jobs just because of their age? Wake up Valdosta, the future is not looking very bright out there.”

More buses needed

“Why doesn’t the Lowndes County School System get some more buses? My children shouldn’t have to sit three to a seat, or even stand up. They also need to stop going all out the way to multiple schools, waking my kids up so early.”

Bring her back

“We miss Ms. Hall who drove bus No. 140 for Lowndes County. We want her back. She was the best bus driver for Lowndes County. We love and miss her.”

Pleasant workers

“Park Avenue Bank should be very proud of Dot McGee and Delores Wright at the Baytree office. I have been a customer of Park Avenue Bank for many, many years and have visited two of their branches, but every time I go into the Baytree office, Dot and Delores greets me with a smile and are very knowledgeable. They seem to enjoy their jobs. Thanks again Park Avenue Bank.”

Cheap gas closer

“You don’t have to drive all the way to Waycross to get cheap gas. They have gas in Morven for $1.24 a gallon.”

Problem solver

“Thank you Dan Henry, manager of the Northside Miller Hardware, for helping me with my rose bush Father’s Day dilemma. I really appreciate your understanding. Keep doing a great job at Miller Hardware on the north side of town.”
