Rants and Raves

Active student
“I walk at the very least two miles a day at VSU going back and forth to classes and to my car. I would definitely say I am moving since I have to get to most places in just a few short minutes with 40 pounds of books strapped to my back. And furthermore, I have never taken the elevator and rarely see other than handicapped people using it.”
Children will die
“If we bomb Iraq, more than 1,000 children will die. Is this what Jesus wanted Christians to do?”
Flag preference
“The answer is simple really, all you people who whine and complain about the Confederate battle emblem on Georgia’s real flag, pick a state whose flag you prefer and move there, the sooner the better.”
Clear conscience?
“You say my flag represents slavery, so how many native Americans did your stars and stripes attempt to annihilate as a race? That kind of sounds like Nazi Germany to me, so it would behoove you not to point fingers so quickly.”
Ban smokes, drinks
“In response to tripling the taxes on alcohol and tobacco, I, too, am not a smoker or drinker, but I don’t believe tripling the taxes will help any. If these two drugs cause such health problems, then petition to have them taken off the market. But do not sit in your protective homes and/or restaurants that already have closed half the space to smokers, or in a county that doesn’t allow alcohol on Sundays and preach about tripling their taxes. If our lives are so in danger, than perhaps you should complain to the government. Otherwise you are simply whining about an ancient issue, that is too old and too worn to make a difference. We are already polluted.”
Don’t pull out
“People driving cars and pickup trucks should not pull out in front of a semi or any other vehicle. This goes for Hwy. 133 or a dirt road. We may be speeding but even if we are going slow, you need to wait for us to pass before you pull out.”
Save some money
“That help wanted ad for the coach is the funniest thing I’ve read in this Rant section in recent memory, and oh how true. Put coaching caps on that Touchdown bunch and let them do it so you’ll at least save money.”
What else to do?
“So war isn’t the answer? Hussein didn’t come over here and kill over 3,000 innocent people on Sept. 11, but Osama sure did. And Hussein backs Osama. What do you expect the United States to do? My husband is over there in the middle of this War fighting for you and millions of others. Have some respect for what they are trying to do. They don’t want to go to war, but the Middle East is bringing it upon themselves.”
Profitable prices
“I see gas prices are up yet again. Makes you wonder when this is all over, how high the oil companies’ profits are going to be, as well as how much profit some of our leaders will enjoy through their so called blind trusts.”
War started 9-11
“To the peacenik who thinks that war is not the answer: In case you haven’t noticed, we have been at war since 3,000 innocent people were murdered on 9-11-2001.”
Wait 20 years
“To the person who thinks we are too critical: the truth is people are too fat, too out of shape, need to stop smoking/drinking, need to be real parents, stop spending more than they make, etc. If you think that is too harsh, wait for 20 years. Then we get to reap the benefits of all these years of over eating, over spending, over indulging all together.”
Did you forget?
“To the person who said war is not the answer: What planet have you been living on for the past few years? Hussein and bin Laden have come over here and have killed our innocent men, women and children. Have you ever heard of 911?”
Helpful officer
“Thanks to Ofc. Griffin with Remerton Police Department for stopping and helping me change my tire. Thanks for being so helpful.”
