Prayer line needed
“Look under churches in your yellow pages and there is not one single facility or denomination that offer a prayer line. There is one that has counseling available. We as southern Christians need to have a prayer line. Why is it not there? We have problems and need support in our faith. Where do you go?”
Demand for taxis
“There are two taxi cab services in the city of Valdosta. Where in the United States do you have to wait an hour to get a cab? There are occasions when you need one and can’t get one. Why can’t someone break up this monopoly and open up a cab service and have a sufficient number of automobiles to service the people of Valdosta? The service is atrocious and the service is out of line when it comes to charge.”
Cold postal
“Has anyone checked the temperature in the new post office building? The front porch is 10 degrees lower than the rest of the area around the building. Inside it must be 60 degrees or less.”
Don’t change pay
“I don’t feel the council or mayor need any pay increase. They knew what the pay was and the work load was when they took it. If they can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. How about the city/county workers who receive such a small amount of pay?”
Call to serve
“I cannot believe the city council voted to give themselves a 50 percent increase in salary. You are supposed to be called to serve the community for a short time only, go back to work and make your living there.”
Rescued on street
“Thanks to Tim Radney, George, and Carl for coming to my rescue when my car stalled at the stop sign on Lee and Lakeland Ave. Thanks again and may God richly bless each and everyone of you.”
Help this boy
“Why can’t some doctor and hospital come off their high prices long enough to help this handsome little boy in Statenville? This is terrible what happened to him. Something in the community should be required to help him such as donations to get his face fixed.”
Time to grow up
“In response to ‘No photo needed:’ I think our children today need this reality check. I think we need more pictures like this to show what is really going on in the world instead of everybody living in a fairy tale world. Wake up everybody before it is too late.”
Unjust raise
“I am so happy Richard Hill is our councilman and feel this raise and salary and benefits is an unjust thing at this time with the economic problems in Valdosta.”
Take it from SPLOST
“It sure looks like the mayor and councils are going to vote themselves a big fat pay raise, maybe they can figure out a way to take it out of the SPLOST money they keep maneuvering with. If this ridiculous pay raise is voted through, the voters must remember this next election and vote against all incumbents who voted for their own pocketbooks. I know I will.”
