VALDOSTA — Celina Murray was a major reason why Lowndes High was region girls soccer champions last year.
Now she hopes to be a major reason for Thomas University’s success in women’s soccer the next four years.
Murray, this season’s Region 1-AAAAA Player of the Year, signed a scholarship with Thomas, deciding to play only 45 minutes down the road from her adopted hometown of Valdosta.
“It’s been one of my goals since I was little to play in college,” Murray said. “I’m happy to get a scholarship, and to get to play there.”
Murray scored 15 goals and passed out 8 assists this season for the Vikettes, leading them to a 14-5-1 record and their first-ever region championship. One of the team captains, Murray was named team MVP, as well as the region’s top player.
