VALDOSTA — Adonna C. Smith Real Estate Services Inc. is expanding — as part of Prudential Real Estate Affiliates Inc., and into a new building.

Expanding as a franchise

Now Prudential ACS Real Estate, Smith and husband Nathan White’s growing business will be able to offer different services, such as relocation to and from Valdosta as needed, Internet marketing and selling tools, and will give the real estate firm national recognition.

“We are the only Prudential real estate firm in Valdosta,” Smith said. “Not only does it help us expand, but it also gives us the pride that we are part of a great organization. After going through the entire process, where they look at every aspect of the company, I know how hard it is, and I definitely appreciate that they chose us.”

Smith said Prudential did an extensive financial over seven years, as well as observed and rated operations, business practice standards, sales volume and advertisements. The company started looking at ACS Inc. in June, and the real estate company signed the agreement in October, with the franchise going into effect Jan. 1.

Smith said Prudential, which has been in the residential real estate business for 18 years, first looked at the Valdosta area five years ago, but decided that a demand for their business was not there. When Valdosta and Lowndes County became a metropolitan statistical area, Prudential revisited Valdosta and decided to sell a franchise in the area.

Prudential, also known for its insurance and financial services, is based in California, but has 207 Georgia offices. There are more than 1,600 offices in North America.

ACS, Inc. has been a company for a year. Smith has been an agent for eight years, mostly in commercial real estate. Smith is the managing broker / sponsoring broker for the company, and Nathan Smith is the Chief Financial Officer of the business. The company currently has six employees, besides the Smiths. Sandy Howell is the Residential Sales Manager, David Williams is a real estate agent and the Residential and Commercial Property Manager, Janet Lineberger is a residential real estate sales agent and Relocation Manager, Kevin Trammel and Lisa Thompson are office assistants and Julie Williams is the office manager. ACS, Inc. handles both commercial and residential real estate, while the Prudential side of the business will be strictly residential.

“We will still handle developments and commercial real estate,” Adonna Smith said. “The addition will be the reputation and high quality of Prudential with residential sales.”

Smith said although the name has changed, the quality of services and the approachability of the company will remain the same.

“We have hometown hospitality with a national service,” Smith said. “We firmly believe our clients will be pleased with the change. We are all prepared for the challenge of bringing Prudential’s strength to our market.”

Expanding out of downtown Valdosta

Prudential ACS Real Estate will be moving from its current location at 509 North Patterson Street, to Northwinds Office Park, off North Oak Street Extension.

“Our staff continues to expand, and with the new franchise, it is about time that we move to a new location,” Smith said.

Smith expects construction to begin with a ground breaking the next month. While the real estate firm waits for its new location to be built, it will be moving into a temporary location across from the permanent location’s site. Moving into the temporary building will take place in the next two weeks, and Smith hopes to be in the permanent building by the end of May.

“We’re really excited to be able to spread out,” she said. “It is a sure sign of success when you have to move to a new building to get more space.”

Smith is also selling the commercial buildings in the office park.
