Daniel Friedman joins Times' management team

VALDOSTA — The Valdosta Daily Times General Manager J.H. “Sandy” Sanders announced the addition of Daniel Friedman to the management team of the newspaper.

Friedman has been named controller for the Times, and is responsible for all of the accounting functions for the cnhi newspapers, including six dailies and three weeklies, in South Georgia and North Florida.

Friedman comes to Valdosta from The Gainesville Sun in Gainesville, Fla., where he served as controller for 15 years. The Sun is part of The New York Times Regional Newspaper Group, where Friedman began his career in 1978. For the group, Friedman also worked for newspapers in Ocala, Fla., Hendersonville, N.C., and Leesburg, Fla.

A graduate of The University of Florida, Friedman has been active in both the Jacksonville and Gainesville Chambers of Commerce as well as the United Way campaign.

“We are pleased to have Dan as the newest member of our team, and are certain he will be welcomed into the Valdosta community,” said Sanders. “He has an excellent background in managing newspaper finances, and we believe he will be an asset to our organization.”
