The Lanier County Health Department is planning educational seminars for area citizens focusing on the importance of breast cancer awareness. Nationwide, October is known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Lanier County has chosen to celebrate with a lunch and learn program and by offering appointments for free clinical breast exams.
From noon until 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital’s Dogwood Cafeteria, the American Cancer Society, Department of Human Resources and the Georgia Cancer Coalition have teamed up with the Lanier County Health Department to host a lunch and learn seminar.
In addition, throughout October women can call the health department to schedule free clinical breast exams. The exam appointments will be available every Friday in October.
