William P. ‘Bill’ Hermann Sr.
VALDOSTA — William P. “Bill” Hermann Sr., 84 of Valdosta died on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on April 4, 1920, in Muskogee, Okla., he was the son of the late Francis H. and Orene Powell Hermann. Mr. Hermann attended VPI and was the first father and son team to enlist in the service during WWII from the state of Virginia. He was a decorated Navy Veteran. Mr. Hermann owned and operated Hermann Wholesale Lumber Co. and was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors are his wife, Patricia Cannon of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, William P. Jr. and Cornella Hermann of Atlanta, Mathew F. and Connie Hermann of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Matt, Jason and Josh; and a sister, Mrs. Frank Richardson Jr. of Martinsville, Va.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2004, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Porter of First Christian Church officiating. Entombment will follow in McLane Riverview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or the charity of your choice. Marlen Bruce Huffmaster
QUITMAN — Marlen Bruce Huffmaster, 59, of Quitman died Thursday, April 29, 2004. Born in Brooks County, he was the son of William Bruce and Geneva Louise Bradford Huffmaster. He was of the Baptist faith, and employed by the Brooks County Road Department.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Huffmaster, Quitman; two sons, Eric (Terrie) Huffmaster, Quitman, Rickey Huffmaster, Quitman; three grandchildren, Dalton Huffmaster, Blake Huffmaster and Summer Huffmaster. Also surviving are three sisters, Geraldine (Earl) Peters, Betty (Dewey) Elsberry and Jean (Wilmer) Wheeler.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2, 2004, in Elam Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. this evening. — Maxwell-Miller funeral Home, Quitman
Sarah Frances Judge
VALDOSTA — Sarah Frances Judge, 87, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, in Adel after a brief illness. Born on Oct. 12, 1916, in Iron City, she was the youngest of 10 children of the late Judge A. and Lula Ethridge King and widow of Charles Henry Judge Sr. Mrs. Judge was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Survivors are one daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Hank Dowdy of Ray City; seven grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Henry Judge Jr.
Funeral services for Mrs. Judge will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2004, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Dorsett officiating. Parker David ‘Pete’ Miller
ATTAPULGUS — Parker David “Pete” Miller, 79, of Attapulgus, passed away Friday, April 30, 2004. He was a farmer and CEO of Georgia Florida Harvestore, Inc.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. eastern time, Sunday, May 2, 2004 at Attapulgus United Methodist Church in Attapulgus with burial in Attapulgus United Methodist Church Cemetery in Attapulgus. Annette S. McIntyre, 66, of Meadow Drive, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2004, at her home following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Friday, April 30, 2004, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Mark Atwood and Father Richard Wise officiating.
