Emma Clark
VALDOSTA– Emma Clark, 96, passed this life Jan. 26, 2004.
Mrs. Clark was born May 28, 1907 in Montgomery, Ala. to the late Mr. Benjamin Landrum and the late Mrs. Georgia Wright Landrum.
Mrs. Clark was educated in the Valdosta School system. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by her husband Eddie Clark Sr. and twin daughters, Evelyn and Carolyn Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Eddie Clark Jr. of Patterson, N.J.; two daughters, Wilmatine Baker of Patterson, N.J. and Queen Stripling (George) of Valdosta; three adopted daughters, Ruby Baker (Henry), Gladys Banks (John) and Gloria Godford, all of Patterson, N.J.; one adopted son, Robert Banks of Patterson, N.J.; four grandchildren, Darrell Smith (Elaine), Derrick Baker, Vernon Baker, all of Patterson, N.J. and Cletis Clark of Virginia Beach; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Harrington Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Zebedee Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Harrington Funeral Home
Larry Fane Dampier
VALDOSTA — Larry Fane Dampier, 59, of Valdosta died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 at his home. He was born on Jan. 21, 1945 in Clinch County to Fannie Bell Knowles Dampier and the late Adolph Dampier and had lived in Valdosta most of his life. Mr. Dampier was a member of the Forrest Street Church of God and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway as an engineer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Dampier of Valdosta; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Hannah Dampier, Reena and Bryan Bailey all of Valdosta, Susan and Robert Doyle of Douglas; two sons, Eric Dampier and Mark Fussell both of Valdosta; two granddaughters, Lindsay Bailey and Savannah Bailey both of Valdosta; two grandsons, Caleb Doyle and Jessie Doyle both of Douglas; his mother, Fannie Bell Dampier of Valdosta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Latrelle and Vince Paulhoff of Madison, Fla. and Vickie and Bobby Moore of Valdosta; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, LaThad and Mary Dampier, Maitland and Jeannie Dampier all of Jacksonville, Fla., Gary Dampier of Valdosta; his mother-in-law, Orene Mosley of Valdosta; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Wills.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at the Forrest Street Church of God with the Rev. Wayne Hughes and Rev. Jerry Greer officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home.
George Davis Jr.
DETROIT, Mich. — Homegoing service for George Davis Jr. who passed away Jan. 24, 2004 at Receiving Hospital, Detroit, Mich. will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 31, 2004 at Hopewell Baptist Church, Detroit, Mich. Mr. Davis was educated in the Valdosta, Ga. public schools and a graduate of Dasher High School. George served in the United States Army. He was retired as a supervisor after 40 years of service from the Budd Automotive Company.
Mr. Davis was raised on Wisenbaker Lane and was a member of St. James Baptist Church until he moved away. Mr. Davis was a deacon of Hopewell Baptist Church for the past 35 years of which he was faithful dedicated and proud. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. George Davis Sr. and Mrs. Cora L. Davis; four brothers, Artis B., Willie Lee, Leroy and John Davis. George leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife Locie Davis, Detroit, Mich.; son William Lawrence Davis, Calif.; four stepchildren Ronald, Fred, Michael, and Andrea; one brother Hercules Davis, Valdosta; three sisters Mae N. Harris and Julia M. Davis, both of Valdosta and Ruby D. Sallet of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many friends. Interment for George will be held in Detroit, Mich. Arrangements are handled by Caver Funeral Home, Detroit, Mich.– Harrington Funeral Home is serving the family locally.
Sara Jacqueline Martin Hall
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — Sara Jacqueline Martin Hall, 77, of Long Island, N.Y., formerly, of Valdosta died on Friday, Jan. 23, 2004. Born on Sept. 30, 1926 in Quitman, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Annie Clower Goff and Earl Bertrum Martin. She was reared in Valdosta and graduated from Valdosta High School in 1944. Mrs. Hall spent most of her marred life in Ft. Pierce and Palatka, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, G. W. (Pete) Hall, Jr. She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, Valdosta.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and David Dolitsky of Long Island, N.Y.; one son, G. W. (Chip) Hall, III of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandchildren and their spouses, Duane and Margie Dolitsky, Dennis and Adriene Dolitsky, and Janice Dolitsky all of Long Island, N.Y., Matthew and Carissa Dolitsky of Tampa, Fla., and Julie and Sam Clausen and G. W. (Will) Hall, IV all of Jacksonville, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Jake and Amanda Dolitsky and Gillian and Jacklyn Dolitsky all of Long Island, NY; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Ann and Raymond Sutton of Valdosta; one nephew and his spouse, Alan and Nancy Sutton of Valdosta; one great-niece, Laurie Sutton of Valdosta; one nephew and his spouse, Alan and Nancy Sutton of Valdosta; one great-niece, Laurie Sutton of Valdosta; and, several cousins and friends. She was also preceded in death by one nephew, Raymond E. Sutton, Jr.

Zarrife Nazhia Hanna
VALDOSTA — Zarrife Nazhia Hanna, 71, of Valdosta, died in Tallahassee at Capital Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004. Born in Taalabia, Lebanon on April 1, 1932, she was the widow of the late Tanios Nahra Hanna.
Survivors are her children and grandchildren, Mousa and Caroline Hanna, Elian, Maria, Laara, and Eliz; John and Mary Hanna, Tony, Claudine and Paul all of Lebanon; Joseph and Gizelle Hanna, Laura and David; Mary Hanna Johnson, Christopher; George and Irene Hanna, Julie; Naja and Elise Hanna, Jared and Jacob, all of Valdosta. Freddie and Rhea Hanna of Gainesville, Fla. Two sisters, Yvonne Jaeja and Georgette Jaeja of Lebanon. Sister-in-law, Mary Hanna LaHood; niece, Ann LaHood Joseph; nephew, George J. LaHood, Jr. all of Valdosta.
There will be a Rosary at 6 – 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home with visitation following until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. Father John O’Brien and Dr. Phil West will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Leo Lofton
FARGO — Mr. Leo Lofton, 75 of Fargo passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 29, 2004 in the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, following a short illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Clinch County, he was retired from Champion International with 36 years of service. Mr. Lofton attended the Fargo Church of God and was the son of the late John and Modina Swearingen Lofton. His brother, James Bennie Thompson preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, Louise Padgett Lofton, Fargo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Tye Thomas, Homerville and Sylvia and Davy Stabler, Statenville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Ann Lofton, John and Megan Lofton and Russell and Debbie Lofton, all of Fargo; 20 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004 at Fargo Church of God. Burial will be held in Boney Bluff Cemetery.

W. Maye Absher Mathis
ELLIJAY — W. Maye Absher Mathis, 88, of Ellijay, Ga. and formerly of Valdosta died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 at North Georgia Medical Center in Ellijay. She was born on May 23, 1915 in Kentucky to the late John R. Absher and Mollie Porter Absher Miller. Mrs. Mathis was a former resident of Lowndes and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Marcus Law, Lynda and Buddy Hall all of Ellijay; one son and two daughters-in-law, Darrell and Faye Mathis of Blue Ridge, Ga. and JoAnn Mathis of Valdosta; seven grandchildren, Andy Mathis of Blairsville, Tony Law, Todd Law both of Ellijay, Tim Law of Valdosta, Christi West of Ellijay, Trey Hall of Lynchburg, Va. and Joni M. Ford of Valdosta; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Mathis and a son, Joel E. Mathis.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004 at the Corinth Baptist Church with Dr. Stanley Luke and Trey Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery.
