Tonya Lorraine Mikell
VALDOSTA– Miss Tonya Lorraine Mikell, 20 of Valdosta resided at 1268 Hodge Avenue in Charleston, S.C. She was born July 14, 1984 in Valdosta to Tony L. and Brenda Mikell. She attended Lowndes High School.
She departed this life on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at Medical University of S.C.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Charles Berrian, Jr. and Tony L. Mikell, Jr., one sister, Salina Y. Mikell and grandfather John Williams.
She is survived by her loving parents, Tony L. and Brenda Mikell; one sister, Salenthia Y. York of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Norvell Bernard Roberts of Atlanta; grandparents, Eugene and Pinkie Mikell and Luvenia Williams; eight aunts, Diane Shuman (Edwardo), Sharonda Jones, Gloria Myers (Wiley), Mary Moore, Eula Howell (Harry, Sr.), Ree Omie Howell (Kenneth), Linda Bryant (Bobby, Jr.), Nina Bell (Lent, Sr.); six uncles, Billy Mikell (Pearl), Danny Mikell (Shonda), Jason Mikell, Alfonza Williams, Ted Williams (Windell), Stan Williams (Charlotte); special cousins, Tammy Scott, Taj’na Williams, Jasmine Williams, Omillya Qutaishat, Bobby Bryant, III, Tiffany Cowens, Malik Rogers and Rajayce Rogers; God sister, Eureka Bell; God mother, Nina Bell; special aunt, Linda Bryant; and a host of other relatives. Special friends, Shayla Norwood, Lataria Corbett, Marissa, Felicia, Marshea, Melissa and Calandra; and a host of other friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 at Woodlawn Forrest Church of Christ. Bro. Leroy Butler Jr., pastor and Bro. Andre Norwood will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Scott And Roberts Mortuary
George Louis Moulton
VALDOSTA — George Louis Moulton, 85, of Valdosta died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004 at his home suddenly after a period of declining health. He was born on May 22,1919 in Neodesha, Kan. to the late Fred and Lily Simpson Moulton and had lived in Lowndes County for 65 years. Mr. Moulton was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ, Azalea City Masonic Lodge #716, VFW, Woodmen of the World, the Valdosta Daylily Club and the Valdosta T’s. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II and owned and operated Moulton’s Garage at Dasher for 40 years. Mr. Moulton served as a chairman of the Lowndes County Board of Education for 20 years and during his terms of office the Lowndes County Schools were integrated, Lowndes High School and Martin Stadium were built and Moulton Branch Elementary School was named in his honor.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Elouise Cornelius Pearson Moulton of Valdosta; his children and their spouses, Fred and Edie Moulton of Green Cove Springs, Fla., George Ann and Larry Thomas of Valdosta, Linda Carol and Jack Strickland of Athens, Wayne and Wendy Pearson of Nashville, Steve and Sherry Adams of Corona, California; his grandchildren, Dena and Cesar Berenguer, Dottie Lane and Javier Guzman, Julie and Steve Garrison, Clay and Lori Strickland, Jake Moulton, Saul and Dede Betten, Josh and Tina Betten, Wendy and Todd Woodruff, Morgan and Chandler Pearson; his great-grandchildren, Cole and Tyler Berenguer, C.J. and Will Guzman, Hannah and Leah Garrison, Claire Strickland, Brandon and Josie Betten, Amanda and Hannah Betten; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Louise Moulton of Thayer, Kan.. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace Wisenbaker Moulton, a sister, Louise Laverty, and four brothers, Bob Moulton, Tom Moulton, Bill Moulton and John Moulton.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. C.J. Moffett, the Rev. Beth Bevill and Mr. John Chick officiating. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery with Masonic Rites at the graveside. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Pinnes Lee Reed
VALDOSTA — Mrs. Pinnes Lee Reed daughter of the late Granvile and Carrie Black was born on June 21, 1926 in Lowndes County. She was the oldest of nine children in a loving family.
Having had the influence of a strong Christian home she accepted Christ as her personal savior when she was baptized and joined Good Hope Christian Church at an early age. She served as a very devoted and faithful Usher and Missionary until her health declined.
Mrs. Reed was educated by the public school system. She attended Mount Olley Elementary School and was a graduate of Mount Zion High School.
Mrs. Pinnes Reed retired from Valdosta State University after many years of dedicated services as a dietitian. During these years of dedication, she was honored several times and received special recognition as an outstanding employee.
Everyone whose lives were touched by Mrs. Pinnes Reed are truly blessed. She was s a person of “Peace, Love, Giving, Joy and much Caring and Compassion” for others.
On Monday morning, Sept. 13, 2004, she was called home by our Lord to enter eternal rest.
She was preceded into eternal rest by her devoted husband, Leroy Reed, two brothers, Ralph Black, Jake Black and one sister Odessa Burgman.
Mrs. Pinnes Reed leaves to cherish her love and fond memories always two loving and devoted children; one son, Jackie L. Woods, (Mable), Valdosta; one daughter, Gloria Jean Lightfoot (Major) Summerville, S.C.; three admiring and devoted grandchildren; one special grandson, Jackie D. Woods, Savannah; two special granddaughters, Keisha V. Woods Jacksonville, Fla. and Brandi Woods, Tampa, Fla.; two precious great-granddaughters, Danielle Woods Fort Columbus, Ga. and Jayla Woods, Selma, Ala.; four loving and dedicated sisters, Armetta Berrian (Charlie) Valdosta; Vernice Jones (Rufus) Piscataway, N.J.; Annetta Prestly (Frank) Piscataway, N.J.; Mae Lillie McEady (Charles), Valdosta; one loving and dedicated brother, Rayford Black (Lois), Valdosta. She has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and loving friends throughout the land.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Hope Christian Church . Pastor Robert Daniels will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Harrington Funeral Home
Julia Allen Storey
VALDOSTA — Julia Allen Storey, 75, of Valdosta died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 at her home. She was born in Lowndes County on Oct. 29, 1928 to the late Charlie L. and Hettie Oakley Allen and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Storey was a member of the New Harvest United Methodist Church and retired from Dowling Bag Company.
Survivors include her husband, Charles M. Storey of Valdosta; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Louis M. and Candy Storey, Gary A. Storey, all of Valdosta; six grandchildren, Jason Storey, Jeremy Storey, Jeffrey Storey, Rebecca Royals, Lindsey Storey and Lauren Storey; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Annie Ruth Allen of Valdosta; Tom and Mary Alice Allen of Cairo, Harold and Joanne Allen of Cordele and Alton and Donna Allen of McDonough. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Richard Storey.
Graveside services will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004 in Sunset Hill Cemetery with Pastor Mark Piotrowski officiating. The family will receive friends on from 7-9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home.
