Alex Earl Byrom Sr.
Alex Earl Byrom Sr., 68, of Dixie, Ga., died Fri., March 19, at Crestwood Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
Born April 17, 1935, he was the son of Riley and Ruth Byrom. He was the owner/operator of Byrom’s Campers and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Sandra D. Byrom of Dixie; eight children Sharon (Shorty) Hunt of Talapusa, Ga.; Alex Earl (Elaine) Byrom II of Sharpsburg, Ga.; Tim Byrom of Ohio; Bill (Patty) Byrom of Horn Lake, Miss.; Tommy Roberts of Dixie; Bobby (Amy) Robert of Quitman; Patrick Roberts of Dixie; Edward (Doris) Roberts of The Rock, Ga., numerous grandchildren and one brother, Walter H. Byrom of Bainbridge, Ga.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 22 at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service. Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Brian Joseph Corby
Brian Joseph Corby, 44, of Valdosta, passed away Fri., March 19,2004, at his residence. He was born June 16, 1959 in Corning N.Y. and had lived in the Valdosta area for the past 11 years. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. Upon his retirement, he continued his service at Moody as a contract worker until recently.
Survivors include: his wife of 22 years, Karen Marie Dillenbeck Corby; daughters Ashley Erin Corby, Taylor Eliza Corby and son Scott Elliott Corby, all of Valdosta; parents, Don and Darla Corby, Jacksonville, Fla.; father and mother-in-law Paul and Janet Dillenbeck, Corning, N.Y.; maternal grandmother Katherine Johnston, Bath, N.Y.; brother and sister in-law Kevin and Robin Corby, Corning N.Y.; sister and brother-in-law Kimberly and Edward Iocco, Jacksonville, Fla., and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends locally Sun. night until 8 p.m., at their residence, 640 Justin Drive. The family will receive friends in Corning, N.Y., at Phillips Funeral Home on Thurs., March 25, 2004 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., and 6 p.m., until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Fri., March 26, 2004 in the St. Vincent De Paul Church in Corning N.Y. Daniel J. Jacobs Sr.
Daniel J. Jacobs Sr., 52, of Valdosta passed away Sat., March 20, 2004 at Smith Northview Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born in Moultrie, Ga., and had lived in VAldosta for most of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Jacobs of Valdosta; three sons Daniel Jacobs Jr.; Shawn Jacobs, both of Valdosta; Christopher Buchina, Fort Know, Ky.; mother Emily Woodard, Bushnell, Fla.; three sisters, Rosie Vickers, Valdosta, Gail Chastain, Cairo, Darlene Conners, Valdosta; brothers Grady Jacobs, Valdosta, GAry Jacobs, Cairo; a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Clara Jones
Clara Jones, 93, of Moultrie, formerly of Statenville departed this life Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Woodlands at Cobblestone in Moultrie after an extended illness. Mrs. Jones was born June 11, 1910, in Alabama to the ;ate Wash and Pearlie Thomas.
She leaves to mourn two sons and one daughter-in-law Will Jr., (Wilma) Evans and Willie Jones all of Orangeburg , S.C. Two sisters Bertha Nelson of Nashville and Lettie Moore Moore of St. Petersburg, Fla. One brother, Rev. Steve Thomas also of St. Petersburg, Fla. Four grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Robert “Bob” Watson
Robert “Bob” Watson, 70, Valdosta died Saturday, March 20, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Tifton on May 27, 1933 to the late Roy B. and Estelle Stripling Watson and had lived in Valdosta since 1967. Mr. Watson was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Valdosta Daily Times. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Watson of Valdosta, two daughters and sons in law, Debbie (Snoozy) and Paul Marchant, Robin and Jerry Williams all of Valdosta, two granddaughters, Lindsay and Drew Cooper of Hahira, Caitlin Williams of Valdosta, great granddaughter, Caroline Rose Cooper of Hahira, two special nieces Becky Massey of Tifton, Amy Waldrop of Valdosta, special sister in law and her husband, E. J. and Mike Burgess of Nashville, brother in law and sister in law, Tommy and Suzanne Johnson of Tifton, two sisters, Mary Walden of St. Simons, GA. and Linda Hutchinson of Dalton, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Monday, March 22, 2004 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7-9pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John Catholic Church Building Fund. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
