Andy Fudge Baker
Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Andy Fudge Baker, 64, departed this life on August 4, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta, Ga. He was born August 11, 1939 in Willacoochee, Ga. to Mr. Sam Fudge and Mrs. Josephine Newsome Fudge. His adoptive parents were Mr. Paul Baker and Mrs. Inez Davis Baker. SFC Baker graduated from Nashville High and Elementary School in Nashville, Ga. SFC Baker honorably served his country for 21 devoted years. SFC Baker was a member of Crenshaw Mission Church (Rev. Amos Bennett, Pastor).
To keep his cherished memories is his loving wife, Mrs. Joyce Belinda Baker of Nashville, Ga.; daughter Teresa Ann Baker of Valdosta, Ga.; sons Rodeny Leo Baker of Valdosta, Ga., Anthony Dewayne (Michelle) Baker of Valdosta, Ga., and Linus Maurice Baker (Shaquwanda) of Manassas, Va. Five grandchildren, Ronteria Reeding, Anayonsi Reeding, Patrick Baker, Kendra Baker and Tionne Baker. Brothers Charlie Fudge (Valire) of Bernell, Fla., Nathaniel Fudge (Ertha) of Lake Park, Ga., Amos Fudge of Homerville, Ga., Eddie Fudge (Idella) of Valdosta, Ga., and Rev. Gene Baker (Peggy) of Miami, Fla. Sisters Louise Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla., Beulah Mayfield of Jesup, Ga., Francis West (Izell) of Stockton, Ga., Julie Mae Fudge of Daytona, Fla., and Sandra Lewis (John) of Nashville, Ga. Aunt and Uncle, Marie Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla. and Robert Newsome of Waycross, Ga. In-laws, Rev. Dr. Sylvester Copeland of Killeen, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Watts of Nashville, Ga., Lawrence Copeland of Nashville, Ga., Rosene McQueen of Arcadia, Fla., also a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, August 8, 2004 starting at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2004 at Crenshaw Mission in Crenshaw, Ga. with the Rev. David Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Nashville, Ga. with full military honors. — Black and Son Funeral Home, Nashville.
Frank E. Fowler
Frank E. Fowler, 67, of Valdosta died on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at his residence. Born on March 22, 1937 in New Jersey, he was the son of the late William Clifford and Margaret Fowler. Mr. Fowler was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia House Fowler of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Angel and Todd McGuffey of Lancaster, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2004 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Willis officiating. — Carson McLane Funeral Home.
Perry W. Griffin
Perry W. Griffin, 84, of Hahira died Friday, August 6, 2004 at his home. He was born on October 17, 1919 in Louisburg, North Carolina to the late H.L. and Monnie Gupton Griffin and had lived in Hahira for many years. Mr. Griffin was retired from the American Tobacco Company as an office manager and a member of the Hahira United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Verne Griffin of Hahira; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Eckdahl of Hahira and Becky and Bart Shuman of Valdosta; six grandchildren, Keely Radcliff, Haley Radcliff, Lindsey Radcliff, Scott Shuman, Sloan Shuman, and Seth Shuman; one sister, Genelle Holmes of Henderson, N.C.; four sisters-in-law, Dot Griffin of Marion, S.C., Betty Sue Martin of Valdosta, Sue Martin Boyette of Hahira and Clois Martin of Barney; a brother-in-law, Frank Crane of Valdosta and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 9, 2004 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Rev. Lynn Hurley officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hahira United Methodist Church. — Martin/McLane Funeral Home.
Jeanette VanLandingham Kennedy
Jeanette VanLandingham Kennedy, 73, of Tallahassee formerly of Brooks County, died August 7, 2004 at Tallahassee Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born August 1, 1931 in Brooks County and was the only child of Corinne Connally and Alvin M. VanLandingham. She had been a life long resident of Brooks County except for the years she and her Marine husband, James Hulett Kennedy, were stationed elsewhere. In the last few months, she had resided in Tallahassee, Fla. near her daughter.
She was an active member of the Morven United Methodist Church, the same church she was christened in more than 70 years ago. She was a greast granddaughter of Brooks County pioneers and was a proud citizen and a Christian lady who loved her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Kennedy of Tallahassee, Fla.; two very special people who she referred to as “my girls,” Mary and Corrie Menard; sister-in-law, Peggy Kennedy Ramsey; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 9, at 10 a.m. in the Morven United Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Cone and Rev. Larry Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery.
