Franklin Marcine Croft
TIFTON — Franklin Marcine Croft, 70, of Tifton, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors’ Tiftarea Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Odum and the Rev. Danny Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery, Hahira. The family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, from 7-9 p.m. at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors – Tiftarea Chapel.
James Simpson, Mack Simpson, Colin Croft, Gene Hancock, Ken Williams and Charles Petty will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Riddle and the Bridgebuilders Sunday School Class at Second Baptist Church.
Born Feb. 2, 1934, in Brooks County, Mr. Croft was the son of Lee Allen and Stella Thomas Croft, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Marc Croft.
Mr. Croft was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather and a caring friend to all who knew him. He was a generous provider and a true man of God who lived his faith in his daily life.
He was retired from the U. S. Air Force and from Queen Carpet. He was a part-time employee of MSI for the last six years.
A member of Second Baptist Church of Tifton, Mr. Croft served faithfully as a deacon, trustee, treasurer and Sunday School teacher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Simpson Croft; and by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ben Fowler, LeAnn and Steve Pritchett, and Elaine Auger, all of Tifton. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Rhett, Alisabeth, and Stephen Pritchett, Claire and Sara Auger. Other survivors are three brothers, Lee Croft of Los Angeles, Calif., Vernon Croft and wife, Rose, of Meridian, Idaho, and Colin Croft and wife, Pat, of Warner Robins; two sisters, Alnis Neville, and husband, Joe, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Annette DeCicco of Miami, Fla.
Mr. Croft is also survived by his lifetime friends and brothers-in-law, Raymond Simpson, Mack Simpson and Kay of Barney, James Simpson and Patricia of Hahira; and his beloved sister-in-law, Linda Simpson Todd of Valdosta; and 19 nieces and nephews.

Zora Green
VALDOSTA — Zora Green, 85, of Valdosta died on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born on Aug. 20, 1918, in Knoxville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Stanton and Harriett Solomon. Mrs. Green was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Carolyn Strickland, Valdosta, Barbara and Gerald Marshall, Valdosta, Anita and Rodney Luke, Clyattville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Sammie Lane, Knoxville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erman B. Green.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Sunset Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Gabbard officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. this evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
Enoch Newborn
MADISON, Fla. — Enoch Newborn, 71, of Madison, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, in Madison, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Aug. 7, 2004, at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel, Madison, Fla. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery in Madison, Fla.
He was born in Madison County, Fla., where he was also a lifelong resident. He was a shipping-receiving clerk for metal products for 38 years. He was owner and operator of Newborn’s Lawn Care Service for the past 12 years. He was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Unit for the U.S. Army. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Lee Newborn of Madison, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon (husband Allen) Shadrick of Pinetta, Fla., and Darlene (husband Leroy) Buchanan of Madison, Fla.; two brothers, Joe D. Jr. (wife Helen) Hart of Madison, Fla., and James (wife Connie) Hart of Adrian, Mo.; two sisters; Frances Gottuso of Jacksonville, Fla., and Betty Haynes of Fayetteville, Ohio; eight grandchildren Steven (fiancee Tiffany Barr) Deming, Jeremy (wife Melissa) Deming, Josh Smith, Cassey Smith, Matthew Buchanan, Tyler Shadrick, Rebekah Buchanan, and Ryan Shadrick; one great-grandchild, Shawn Deming; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends. — Beggs Funeral Home, Madison, Fla.
Clyde Derryl Nolan
ADEL — Clyde Derryl Nolan, 62, of Adel and formerly of Valdosta, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Berrien County on Oct. 6, 1941, to Aline Blanton Nolan Southerland and the late Clyde Benjamin Nolan and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Nolan was a carpenter and a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Nolan of Atlanta and David Nolan of Valdosta; a daughter, Jill Nolan of Atlanta; his mother, Aline Southerland of Valdosta; one brother, Bobby S. Nolan of Tifton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marlyn and Robby Davis of Adel, Linda Nolan of Valdosta and Janie and Allen Patterson of Adel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean McGilvray Nolan; and his stepfather, W.M. Southerland.

Frank E. Fowler, 67, of Valdosta died on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at his residence. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Carson McLane Funeral Home.

Robert Greenlaw, 38, of Lake Park passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, after a brief illness. As per Mr. Greenlaw’s wishes, he will be cremated.
