Moree H. Coody

VALDOSTA — Moree H. Coody, 89, of Valdosta, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at home.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1915, in Lowndes County to the late Earnest and Sally Zipperer Hartline. Mrs. Coody lived most of her life in Lowndes County, joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at an early age and was a very active member. She was associated with Thompson Industries in Madison for 21 years.

Mrs. Coody was preceded in death by her husband, John Ruben Coody.

Mrs. Coody is survived by three daughters and one son in law, Margaret Turner, Sally Mason, Glenda and Butch Inmon, all of Valdosta; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. John McGowan and Rev. Aaron Kight officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Sallie R. Federico

VALDOSTA — Sallie R. Federico, 69, of Valdosta, passed away on Oct. 9, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness.

Born on Nov. 28, 1934, in New Orleans, La., she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth and William Woolsey Resor.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Federico, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 19, 2004; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Harvey Katz of Corte Madera, Calif., Deborah and Kenny McDonald of Valdosta; sons, Louis Federico of Hampton, Virg., John Federico of Valdosta; grandchildren, Kylee and Amy Federico of Hampton, Virg., Haley McDonald of Valdosta, Spencer and Aaron Katz of Corte Madera, Calif.; sisters, Bettye DeHennis of Eureka, Calif., Ann Resor of Gonzales, La.; brothers, William Resor of Aurora, Colo., and Robert Resor of Spring, Texas.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father John O’Brien officiating. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Rosary and visitation will be held on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church.

Laura Eileen Fuller

VALDOSTA — Laura Eileen Fuller, 44 of Valdosta, died on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at her residence.

Born on March 13, 1960, in Montrose, Colo., she was the daughter of Carl and Marvel Marsh Burtis of Oakridge, Tenn. Mrs. Fuller attended elementary schools in Indiana, Tennessee, California and Georgia. She graduated from Parkview High school in Lilburn in 1978 and from Georgia Southern with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1983.

Mrs. Fuller moved to the Atlanta area in 1983 and had numerous jobs in day care centers, hotels, law offices, Home Depot and Georgia Pacific. She moved to Valdosta in 2001 and attended Open Bible Baptist Church.

Mrs. Fuller loved children and life and had a sparkling sense of humor. Her wit was widely acknowledged by family and friends. For example, once when a customer at a hotel in Atlanta where she was working complained about the food in the restaurant, Laura answered by saying, “Sir, I apologize. Obviously you got the food that was meant for staff.” She had a special love for her cats and was always able to relay wonderful stories of her life with them.

Survivors are her husband, Jack Fuller of Valdosta; daughter, Lindsey Diane Fuller of Valdosta; sisters and brother-in-law, Lisa Burtis of Oakridge, Tenn., Linda and David Rice of Wilmington, N.C.; mother and father-in-law, Jean and Al Crews of Valdosta; brother-in-law and his wife, Tater and Karen Fuller of Cartersville; sister-in-law and her husband, JoAnn and David Bult and their son, Chipper of Mullins, S.C.

William Henry “Bud” Kramer

JASPER, FLA. — William Henry “Bud” Kramer, 89, of Jasper, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in a local nursing home.

Mr. Kramer was a native of Lyons and had been a resident of Jasper for over 60 years. He was a member of the Jasper Church of God and was instrumental in starting both the Bright Pond Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart.

Mr. Kramer was a self-employed farmer and a life time member of the VFW Post 8095 in Jasper.

Survivors include one son, Venoy Kramer of Plant City, Fla.; one daughter, Ruth Kramer of Jasper, Fla.; two brothers, Thomas Kramer of Oakdale, La., and Lavon “Buck” Kramer of Savannah; two nephews, Larry McIntyre of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Wayne McIntyre of Lake City, Fla.; two step-children, Carlos Rodriquez of Lake Park and Rita Rodriquez of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, William H. “Buz” Kramer, III, Kanoye Capps, and Jessica Kramer; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, in the Jasper Church of God. Visitation with the family will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in North Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery in Vidalia.

James “Jim” McDonald

MEXICO BEACH, FLA. — Mr. James “Jim” McCullough, 65, of Mexico Beach, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at a local hospital.

Mr. McCullough moved to Mexico Beach 10 years ago from Valdosta. He is survived by his wife, Kay McCullough; two sons, Scott McCullough and Glenn McCullough; and one grandson, Charles Scott McCullough.

No formal services are being held for Mr. McCullough and memorialization will be by cremation. — Southerland Family Funeral Home.



Lloyd E. McDonald

HAHIRA — A private funeral service for Lloyd E. McDonald, 76, of Hahira, was held on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004.

Born in Hahira on Aug. 29, 1928, to Mr. Tresser and Mrs. Ada McDonald, Lloyd was a graduate of Hahira High School and attended Southern Business University in Atlanta. He was retired from Ransa Airlines of Miami, Fla. and was Korean War veteran.

He was preceded in death by his son, Loren Dean McDonald and a brother, Victor J. McDonald of Live Oak, Fla. He is survived by two sisters, Ellen Wassmuth of Lake Park and Nancy McDonald of Jupiter, Fla.; and one brother, Dave and Lana McDonald of Adel. — Purvis Funeral Home.



Robert Earl Minick

BROOKLET — Robert Earl Minick, 72, of Brooklet, died Friday evening, Oct. 8, 2004, at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1949 graduate of Brooklet High School and a 1953 graduate of the University of Georgia where he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Mr. Minick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a former store owner and owner of Minick Garden Center.

Mr. Minick was a former mayor of Brooklet, a former director of the Farmers and Merchants Bank and had served on the Statesboro Bulloch Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

Mr. Minick was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Gladys Minick, and a brother, Jerry Minick.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Doris Law Minick of Brooklet; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Greg Freeman of Marietta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Julie Minick of Valdosta and Jay and Lisa Minick of Statesboro; a sister-in-law, Betty Minick Harkleroad; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Statesboro First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lanier, Mickey Minick, Mitchell Minick, Ronnie Minick, Johnny Minick, Frank Hook, Dan Smith, and Landy Minick. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Statesboro First Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, Ga., 30458.

James Melton Tootle

VALDOSTA — James Melton Tootle, 74, of Valdosta, formerly of Glennville, died on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Born on June 25, 1930, in Glennville, he was the son of the late Fred D. and Devonda Strickland Tootle. Mr. Tootle was a retired supervisor for the Georgia Department of Labor and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, The American Legion and a graduate of Georgia Southern University.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Tootle of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Frank Bird III of Jennings, Fla.; grandchildren, Frank Bird IV, Martha Helen Bird, James Rutledge Bird; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Patricia Tootle of Cairo; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Reddick and Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Edwin Mims Young, 88, of Quitman, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
