Dea. James Edward Anderson, Sr.
VALDOSTA — Dea. James Edward Anderson, Sr., 62, of Valdosta passed away Feb. 20, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1941 in Irwin County to the late Pastor Milton Anderson and Ossie Rogers Anderson. He was educated in the Irwin and Lowndes County Schools and was a dedicated Deacon of Ousley COGIC. He is preceded in death by three siblings, Ethel, Clyde and Willie.
He leaves to lament his home going a loving and devoted wife Mary Evelyn Anderson; nine children, Patricia Jones (William), Valdosta, Vivian Freelove, St. Louis, Mo., Janice Anderson, Douglas, Ossie Furr (Brenston), Stafford, Va., Debbie Henderson, Calif., Bernice Anderson, Valdosta, Godfrey Demps (Nellie), James Anderson, Jr. (Stacy), Valdosta, Alkenia Anderson, Douglas; one goddaughter, Brenda Slater, Detroit, Mich.; a special niece Erica McCoggle, Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Berneatha Demps, Lucille Stanley, Valdosta, Jackie Anderson, Vernell Anderson, Fitzgerald; two brothers, Bobby Anderson, Fitzgerald, Henry Lee Anderson, Valdosta; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; father-in-law, Oscar McCoggle, Sr., Valdosta; three uncles, Carlton Anderson, Roosevelt Anderson, Valdosta, Earnest Anderson (Delores), Brooklyn, N.Y.; two aunts, Aurelia Johnson, Pompano Beach, Fla., Dorothy Savage (Roosevelt), Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one great-aunt, Etta Anderson, Ocilla; one brother-in-law, John McCoggle (Brenda), Rochester, N.Y.; six sisters-in-law, Leola Arnold (Darnell), Frances McCoggle, Henrietta Thomas, all of Valdosta, Marjorie Holmes, Rochester, N.Y., Lena M. McCoggle, Valdosta and Wilma McCoggle, Quitman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ousley Temple COGIC and Dr. Curtis Sermons will officiate with burial following in Gary Cemetery. — Harrington Funeral Home
Joanne Freelove
VALDOSTA — Joanne Freelove, 54, of Valdosta passed this life Feb. 21, 2004 at the South Georgia Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1949 in Lowndes County to the late Robert Hall Sr. and Louise Christian Hall. She was married to Nelson Freelove and received her educational background in the Valdosta School system. She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Christian Hall, her father, Robert Hall, Sr., sister, Gladys Roberts, brothers, Robert Hall, Jr. and Joseph Hall.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving and devoted husband, Nelson Freelove of Valdosta; three sisters, Mildred King (Samuel), Carolyn Paul (Carlton), Patricia Alexander (Clarence); one brother, Ralph Hill (Diane), all of Valdosta; mother-in-law, Viola Freelove of Valdosta; six sisters-in-law, Johnnie Ruth Stewart of New Haven, Conn., Arlene Bowers of Tampa, Fla., Jean Freelove of Valdosta, Margie Atwater (Gregory), Knob Moster, Mo., Gloria Williams, Tampa, Fla., Jennifer Beasley (Michael), Stone Mountain; one brother-in-law, Jerry Freelove, Valdosta; 12 nieces; 14 nephews; also a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Susie Irene Fennell
JASPER, Fla. — Susie Irene Fennell, 70, of Jasper, Fla. died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 in a Tallahassee hospital. Mrs. Fennell was a native of Clinton, Tenn. and had been a resident of Jasper for over 55 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Clay (Terri) Fennell of Panama City, Fla. and Lane Fennell, Jasper; one daughter, Gail (Brian) Carter, Augusta; one brother, Charles Melvin Patterson, Clinton, Tenn.; one sister Virginia (David) Cummings, Gulfport, Miss; four grandchildren, Richard and Michelle Fennell, Marcus and Megan Carter.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Calvary Baptist Church of Jasper with burial in Evergreen Cemetery of Jasper. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. — Harry T. Reid Funeral Home, Jasper, Fla.
Pearl Harnage Hill
VALDOSTA — Pearl Harnage Hill, 81, of Valdosta passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004 in Heritage House Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Cecil and had lived in Valdosta most of her life. Mrs. Hill was a member of Northside Baptist Church, American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Maston Henry Harnage, Sr. and L. B. Hill, grandson, Joseph M. Harnage, Jr., four sisters and a brother.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas A. and Nancy Harnage, Hahira, Joseph M. and Alicia Harnage, Albuquerque, N.M., Maston Henry and Cornelia Harnage, McDonough, Ga.; grandchildren, Jerry and Lisa Harnage, Kenneth and Brigitte Harnage, Trisha Johnston, Kristine and David Phillips, Yolanda Harnage, Pam and Paul Morrow, Maston Henry, III and Julie Harnage, Rebekah Harnage; three sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Earl Bryan, Adel, Gladys Cole, Merritt Island, Fla., Bernice Harnage, Plant City, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Cyril Lloyd Hull, Jacksonville, Fla. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Joseph Lee Ponder
VALDOSTA — Joseph Lee Ponder, 83, of Valdosta departed this life on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 at his home.
Born in Bemiss, Ga., he was the son of the late Ora Lee Rice and William Ponder. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Essie Mae Ponder; two daughters, Mary Lynda (Johnny) Moreland, Valdosta, Marsha (Jerome) Johnson, Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren, Andre (Almisha) Zanders , Valdosta, Kimberly Towanna and Dante Joseph Johnson, Columbus, Ga., Deron Johnson, Stone Mountain, Ga.; one brother, James (Willeola) Ponder, Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Aletha Simmons, Springfield, Mass.; one brother-in-law, Fred Washington , Valdosta; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sharp of Valdosta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Clara Rampey
VALDOSTA — Clara Rampey, 90, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at Heritage House Nursing Home. Born in Lake Park, on Jan. 7, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Ida M. Corbett Peterson. Mrs. Rampey was a homemaker and widow of the late John H. Rampey. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Survivors are her sons, Gerald David (Katie) Weeks of Valdosta, James Harold (Maggie) Weeks of Houston, Texas, William Larry (Linda) Weeks of Warner Robins; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Peterson of Lake Park and Sarah Peterson of Anaheim, Calif.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the graveside in Lake Park Cemetery with the Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. Albert F. Saunders, Jr.
VALDOSTA — Albert F. Saunders, Jr., 63, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta to the late Dr. Albert F. Sr. and Sallie Rowland Saunders, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Saunders succeeded his father as President of A. F. Saunders Co. His father and he were founding and charter members of the Glades County Sugar Growers Cooperative Association of Moore Haven, Fla.
Several cousins survive Mr. Saunders.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 27, 2004 at the Mausoleum Chapel at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Capt. Tim Farrell will officiate. Edna Margaret Suberly
VALDOSTA– Edna Margaret Suberly, 82, passed away on Feb. 24, 2004 in Valdosta. She was born in St. Cloud, Fla. and was a long time resident of Jacksonville, but most recently a resident of Langdale Place in Valdosta where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Valdosta where she was active in local cultural activities and the computer club.
Mrs. Suberly attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee and graduated from Emory University College of Nursing, served in the US Navy as a Navy nurse and worked as a private duty nurse in the Jacksonville area. She was a long time member of Lakeshore Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and The Jacksonville Life Center. She is predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Roy H. Suberly.
Survivors include her son, Roy (Lynn) Suberly; daughter, Carol (Don) Hagerling; sister, Iris Siewers; two grandchildren; Rebecca and Michael (Michelle) Suberly; three great-granddaughters, Renae, Jessica and Elizabeth.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at Hardage-Giddens Rivermead Funeral Home, 127 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday at Lakeshore Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gwinn Pratt officiating. Glenda Marie Texton
CALLAHAN, Fla. — Glenda Marie Texton, 58, of Callahan, Fla. died suddenly at her residence on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004. The Pelham, Ga. native was a store manager for “It’s Fashions.”
Survivors include her husband Edgar Texton, Callahan, Fla.; one daughter, Beth Giddens, Valdosta; son, Michael Todd Texton, Jacksonville, Fla.; mother, Lucille Crouch, Jacksonville; one sister Patty Bristol, Jacksonville; one brother, Thomas Hendrix of Pelion, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Virginia Wall
MCGHEYSVILLE, Va. — Mary Virginia Wall, 91, of Goods Mill Road, McGaheysville, Va., died at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Va. on Friday, Feb. 20, 2004. Born on May 7, 1912, in N.C., she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary Emma Fisher Leazer. Mary graduated from Catawba College and was an elementary school teacher in Georgia for 31 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the D.A.R. Formerly of Valdosta, she had moved to Virginia 18 months ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Graham Wall.
Surviving are a son with whom she lived, John Wall of McGaheysville, Va.; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Hugh Fisher Leazer of Remington, Va.; three sisters, Elizabeth Nell Leazer and Ruby Hortence Williams, both of Remington, Va., and Margaret Leah Mitchell of Romancoke, Md.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the mausoleum at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Freddie Smith will officiate.
