John Cotter Jr.
John Cotter Jr., 76, of Cecil, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 4, 1927, in Atlanta to the late John Cotter Sr. and Letha Brigman Cotter. Mr. Cotter was retired from civil service, was a field representative with social security, a Korean veteran, served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, was a paratrooper, attended Mercer University and completed his degree at Valdosta State College, attended Men’s Club at Hahira United Methodist Church where he was a member, attended the Thursday Morning Bible Study, active member of Willing Worker’s Sunday School Class, member of Young At Heart, taught school for 10 years in Maryland after his retirement and was a Western Square Dancer.
Mr. Cotter is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cotter of Cecil; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Carol Cotter III of Palm Bay, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Donald Fulwood of Macon; four grandchildren, Kevin and Patrick Cotter of Palm Bay, Jerry and Roy Ussery of Macon; one great-grandson, Justin Cotter; several step-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Rosalyn Cotter Hullender of Macon; nieces, Peggy Dupuy of Birmingham and Susan Holmes of Macon; mother-in-law, Gladys Boyd Fuller of Waycross. He is predeceased by one granddaughter, Traci Nicole Cotter.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Hahira United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynn Hurley officiating. He will be placed in the church one hour before service time on Monday. Burial will be Fellowship Cemetery near Cecil. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia.

W. Shawn Dedge
W. Shawn Dedge, 21, of Madison, Florida, died on Saturday at South Georgia Medical Center from injuries received in an accident. Born in Tacoma, Wash., on June 30, 1982, Shawn was formerly of Live Oak, Fla., and had lived in Madison for the past seven years. He was employed by United Rentals as a Highway Safety Technician and was a member of Naylor Holiness Church.
Survivors are his fiance, Misty Kay Chaney of Valdosta; parents, William and Darlene Dedge of Madison; sisters and brothers-in-law, Misty and Terry Smith of Madison and Sharee and Clinton Tipton of Dowling Park, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Shirley and Kenny Curl of Live Oak, Fla. maternal stepgrandmother, Faye Zipperer of Valdosta; nieces, Katie Dedge of Madison, Tiponi Tipton of Dowling Park, Gracie Delk of Valdosta; nephews, Johnny Johnson III of Valdosta, and Asher Smith of Madison, Fla.; special friends, Marcus Thompkins and Johnathon Hurtt of Madison; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and many many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Naylor Holiness Church. The Rev. Ross Hudson, Pastor Lee Barnes and Pastor Joe “Papa” Chaney will officiate. Shawn will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m.
Wade Flythe
Wade Flythe, 62, of Hahira, died on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, following a sudden illness. Born in Valdosta, he is a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Flythe worked in auto paint and body repair and was an avid outdoorsman.
Survivors include his daughter, Deidra DiPietro, Valdosta; two grandsons, Trevor Edwards and Nick DiPietro, both of Valdosta; his mother, Eunice Williams, Valdosta; a brother and sister-in-law, Kennith and Becky Flythe; two half sisters and their husbands, Kay and Clyde Fender, Kathy and Charles Griffin, both of Barney; three half brothers and their wives, Harry and Johnna Flythe, Greg and Martha Flythe, all of Valdosta, Richard Flythe, Barney; a stepbrother, C.B. Williams, Macon; two stepsisters, Doris Scott of Peoria, Ariz., and Jane Kirby of Ministeril, N.H.; and a special friend, Bonnie Duggan of Hahira. Mr. Flythe was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Flythe, and a half sister, Carol Sue Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held for Mr. Flythe at 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. The Rev. Jim Schappaugh will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.

Terrell ‘Terry’ Bruce Kidd
Terrell “Terry” Bruce Kidd, 56, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Feb. 9, 2004, at Bay View Health Care Center, St. Augustine. He was a native of Cuthbert and formerly of Eustis, Cocoa and Valdosta. He worked many years in the restaurant business. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Private services are planned.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Paul Kidd, former city manager of St. Augustine.
Survivors: his mother, Martha Kinsinger and stepfather, Tom Kinsinger, St. Augustine; children, Tricia Ingle, Michael Kidd, Kristi Church and Karen Kidd; sisters, Nancy Povia and Carol Glover; brother, Steven Kidd.
The family wishes to thank all the loving and caring staff of Bay View Care Center in St. Augustine.

Norman Milous Rogers
Norman Milous Rogers, 79, of Briarwood Road, Douglas, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, in Valdosta. Mr. Rogers, a native of Brooks County, was born Feb. 1, 1925, to the late Quinton Milous and Clara Hendry Rogers. He was the widower of the late Juanita Elaine Simpson Rogers and a retired USDA Inspector with the U.S. Government. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy, and his church membership was at Saint Mark United Methodist Church. Survivors: daughters, June Allen, Moultrie, and Karen Smith, Sandersville; sons, David Rogers, Thomasville, and Mark Rogers, Valdosta; sister, Frances Zellers, Weathford, Texas; brother, Tolly Rogers, Sylvester; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Daughter, Lynn Rogers Johnson, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held on at 2 p.m. today at the Saint Mark United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Loyd officiating. Burial will follow at the Camp Ground Cemetery in Morven.

Janice Carol Glover Reynolds
Janice Carol Glover Reynolds, 50, of Quitman died Friday, Feb. 13, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Funeral serices will be held Monday, Feb. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Arnold Hodum Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Pavo.
