Allen “Frog” Kent
NASHVILLE — Allen “Frog” Kent, 63, of Nashville died Saturday Oct. 2, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Berrien County, August 2, 1941, he was the son of Lucious John Kent and Dolly Griner. He was a farmer and he was employed for 25 years with Perkins Farms and Tobacco Warehouses. He was also a member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Jo Griner Kent, of Nashville; two daughters and sons-in law, Kay and Rusty Partin, of Nashville, and Heather and Troy Bryan of Warner Robins; one son and daughter-in-law, Joe Allen and Tammy Kent of Nashville; two sisters, Wanda Duvall of Jacksonville, Fla. and Sandy Rodgers of Woodbridge, Va.; one brother, Thomas Kent of Nashville; and five grandchildren, Kayla and Kari Partin, Justin and Gina Kent and T.J. Bryan.
Services will be held 4 p.m. today at the Lovein Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Mickey Lindsey and Rev. Phillip Simmons officiating.

Ethel Lovett Johnson
HAHIRA — Ethel Lovett Johnson, 88, of Hahira, passed from this life on Oct. 1, 2004, and entered the gates of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born in Lenox on April 5, 1916, to the late John Walter and Alice Grimes Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Clayton Lovett and Fred Lee Johnson; one son, Hubert Donald Lovett; two sons-in-law, William Henry Lewis and Billy Ray NeSmith; two brothers, Bruce Bryan and Lonnie Bryant; and two sisters, Lucille Dean and Ruby Mae McCullough.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Daphene Lovett of Melbourne, Fla., and Earl and Barbara Ann Lovett of Valdosta; four daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Alice NeSmith of Hahira, Merle Lovett Moore of Atlanta, Robbie Nell and Raymond Futch of Goodlettsville, Tenn., Jean Lewis of Lake Park; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Pope Lovett of Franklin, La.; three step-sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Lillian Johnson of Valdosta, Dennis and Lavinia Johnson of Lake Park and Jimmy and Carolyn Johnson of St. Mary’s; one step-daughter, Joan Bowers of Moorehead City, N.C.; one brother, Lawton Bryant of Adel; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ora Lee Gibbs of Hoboken and Ora Mae and A.J. Bristol of Nashville; 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, 11 step-grand-children, 21 step-great-grandchildren and eight step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Gordon Avenue Baptist Church in Adel and was a homemaker.
Visitiation will be tonight from 7-9 p.m. at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Hwy. 41 South in Adel.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at the Chapel of Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home on Hwy. 41-South. The Rev. Jimmy Johnson and Bro. Allen Webb will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn City Cemetery in Adel. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home.
Mary Evelyn Parrish
LAKELAND — Mary Evelyn Parrish, 85, of Lakeland passed away, Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, in the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Berrien County and had lived in Lakeland for most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lakeland and the Eastern Star Chapter 334 in Nashville. Her daughter, Mary Linda Parrish preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, W.I. Parrish, of Lakeland; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Warren E. “Arnie” Arnold, of Florida; a son, Larry Parrish of Lakeland; three grandchildren, Amanda Stravata, Benji Parrish, and Holly Howard; three sisters, Myrtis Parrish of Palm Bay, Fla., Ida Pearl Atwood, of Palm Bay, Fla., Geneva Sirmans, of Ohio; a brother, Roy Jones, of St. Mary’s; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in the First Baptist Church in Lakeland, with burial following in Greenlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Parrish will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday night, at the funeral home. Matthew Douglas Perkins
Matthew Douglas Perkins, 18, born May 24, 1986, went home to be with his Lord and King on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He fought a good fight and kept the faith, and has now reached his final goal.
Matthew accomplished many things in his short life, among those are his graduation with high honors in June of 2004. He was a member of the 12th Georgia Company C, Civil War Reenacting Unit, a member of the varsity basketball, soccer and baseball teams at Georgia Christian School in Valdosta.
He will be sadly missed but greatly remembered by all for his great strength and faith in God.
He is survived by his loving parents, Doug and Tammy Perkins, a devoted brother, Michael, and sister, Leah, all of Friendsville, Tenn.; great-grandmothers
