Teena Denise Chaney
LAKE PARK — Teena Denise Chaney, 50, of Lake Park died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Lake City Veterans Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Lowndes County, she was the daughter of David and Wilna Dailey Cribb. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clyattville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Chaney of Lake Park; three daughters; Christy Chaney of Morven, Kilia (Chad) McLeod of Lake Park, Tora Peters of Lake Park; three sons, Brent (Christy) Chaney, Shannon (Holly) Chaney, John David Colley, all of Lake Park; her mother, Wilna Cribb of Quitman; six grandchildren, Amanda Woodard, Rachel Woodard, Ginna Chaney, Gareth Chaney, Caleb McLeod and Weston McLeod.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Church Cemetery. Jesse Griffin
HAHIRA — Jesse Griffin, 78, of Hahira died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Smith Northview Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1926, in Douglas to the late Jesse and Winnie Carter Griffin and had lived in Hahira for many years. Mr. Griffin was retired from the Lowndes County Board of Education as the Food Services Director and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Hahira United Methodist Church, The American Legion, the Hahira Masonic Lodge and former Hahira City councilman.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Pam Griffin, Tommy and Pam Griffin; two grandchildren, Neil Griffin and Blake Griffin; two great-grandchildren, Katie Griffin and Trey Griffin, all of Hahira; one sister, Dorothy Hicks; one brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Ann Griffin, all of Adel; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Barfield Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, July 28, 2004, in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Lynn Hurley and the Rev. John McGowan officiating. Thelma Virginia Scott Vedas Grimard
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Thelma passed away suddenly on July 2, 2004, at her residence in San Diego, Calf.
Thelma was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Norfolk, Va., to George Astor and Clara Ballance Scott. She was the widow of L.T. Carl Francis Joseph Vedas Sr., and in later years the widow of Frank Grimard Sr. She was preceded in death by one of her sons, John Lawrence Vedas; and one grandson, Brandon Carl Vedas.
Thelma is survived by her four sons and their spouses, Carl and Ardella Vedas, Valdosta, Mike and Edie Vedas, Sumter, S.C., Richard and Deborah Vedas, Chandler, Ariz., Frank and Kathleen Grimard, San Diego, Calif.; and daughter-in-law, Janet Mitchell, Macon. Thelma also is survived by her loving sister, Emily Scott Vaquer and husband Mike Vaquer of Savannah; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind several nephews and nieces.
Thelma spent years as a Navy wife during World War II having raised the boys while their daddy was serving his country. She was an administrative assistant in retail sales until her retirement. She never met a stranger from the west coast to the east coast. Her later years were spent traveling and visiting with her family. She loved to read, do search puzzles, talk politics and travel. She always had a personality of uplifting spirit about her while in her presence. This great lady will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Upon her request, her ashes will be scattered over the Pacific Ocean.

Paul Brian Hilton
VALDOSTA — Paul Brian Hilton, 42, of Valdosta died on Monday, July 26, 2004. Born on Aug. 11, 1961, in Laurel, Miss., he was a graduate of Valdosta High School and Valdosta State University. He was owner of Hilton Tile and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Survivors are his daughters, Kelly, Andrea and Audrey Hilton of Valdosta, and their mother, Janette Hilton of Valdosta; his parents, Gerald and Jowell Hilton of Valdosta; brother, Bruce (Penny) Hilton of Warner Robins; Geff Hilton of Valdosta; uncle, Andrew Thome of Chattanooga, Tennessee; nephews, Drew Hilton and Terry Hilton of Warner Robins, Ga.
A memorial mass will be held at 12:10 p.m., on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father John O’Brien and Milton West officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at the church and also immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, to First Christian Church or the Children’s Educational Fund at First State Bank. — Carson McLane Funeral Home
Charles R. Moore
NASHVILLE — Charles R. Moore, 79, of Nashville died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Fla.
He was born on March 16, 1925, in Berrien County to the late Percy and Bessie Parker Moore. He was a former deputy sheriff for Berrien County and retired as a sergeant/shift supervisor with the Nashville Police Department, an Army veteran of WW II and member of Community United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Lee Jones Moore of Nashville; one daughter and son-in-law, Iris and Bruce Shepard of Nashville; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Diana Moore, Nashville; son-in-law, James Griner, Nashville; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Griner, who died June 21, 2004; and a granddaughter, Gina Griner, who died Oct. 21, 1979.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2004, in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Mitchell officiating. Burial will be held in Westview Cemetery. D. Jeanette Nadack
VALDOSTA — D. Jeanette Nadack, 58, lifetime resident of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness. Born on July 31, 1945, in Valdosta, she was a graduate of Lowndes High School where she was a member of the Lowndes High School Band. She later graduated from Valdosta State College. Ms. Nadack was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was an accountant for Lowndes County DFACS.
Survivors are her daughters and a son-in-law, Ginger and Jack Neece Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla., Janet Leigh McGraw of Valdosta; grandchildren, Ciera Neece and Trey Neece of Tallahassee; her parents, Harry and Evelyn Nadack of Valdosta; a sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and Rick Gilbride of Naylor; an honorary aunt and uncle, Hillary and Bob Hodge and their daughter, Rhonda of Lake Park; aunts, Freida Nadack, Doris Nadack and Aunt Ann Ash, all of Chardon, Ohio and Vivian Coody of Valdosta; a niece, Katie Mullis Bulmer of Statesboro; and a nephew, Greg Mullis of Valdosta.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Piotrowski and Pastor George Carpenter officiating. The burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. E. Muriel Zinkand Sinnott
VALDOSTA — E. Muriel Zinkand Sinnott, 95, of Valdosta passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 25, 1908, to the late Joseph N. and Maria T. Nissen Zinkand. She was a New York University Alumna, a retired New York City High School teacher and a member of the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Sinnott was an honorary member of the Alpha Kappa Delta, Business and Professional Women’s Club Inc., former president of American Assn. of University Women and former President Residents’ Association, Presbyterian Nursing Home, Quitman, Ga. She held a Student Pilot Certificate and was a member of the Women Flyers of America.
Survivors include her son, John and Rose Marie of Valdosta; grandchildren, Dr. James A. Sinnott, Jessica M. Sinnott; great-grandchildren, Jeannette, T.J., John, Nicole, Alexander Sinnott.
