Robert Leo Bohannon

VALDOSTA — Robert Leo Bohannon, 66, of Valdosta died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born on Oct. 23, 1937, in Putnam County, Tenn., to the late Richard and Pearl Cleo Bohannon and was a farmer.

Survivors include his sisters and brothers, Evelyn Smith of Rickman, Tenn., Jesse Mae Stewart of Virginia, Essie Mae Webb of Rickman, Tenn., James and Treva Bohannon of Cooksville, Tenn., and Claud Bohannon of Crossville, Tenn., his companion of 18 years, Clare W. Covington of Valdosta and her children, Roy Covington, Leona Nobles, Jimmy and Elaine Covington, Blanche Starling and Jr. Ray, all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Donna Hubbard, Michael Covington, Tony Kussman, Randy Dawkins, Debbie Pringle, Angie Covington, Jr. Covington and Carl Weldon. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie Ray Bohannon, Alvin Bohannon and Willis Bohannon.

Private memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at 6054 Glenn Road, Valdosta. — Carson McLane Funeral Home



Ceasor Nettles

VALDOSTA — Ceasor Nettles, 76, of Valdosta was born on June 24, 1929, in Fayetteville, N.C., to the late Lucious Nettles Sr. and the late Minnie Aaron Nettles.

Mr. Nettles received his education from Newbold Elementary School and E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville, N.C. He was married to the late Carrie Stroughter Carter Nettles. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was a taxi cab driver for over 60 years; owner/operator of Eagle Cab-Valdosta; driver for Azalea City Cab, Valdosta; Hillsboro Cab Company, Fayetteville, N.C.; No Big Four Cab Company, Fayetteville, N.C.; 23 years at Metal Products, Valdosta; supervisor, Drivers-Medtran, Inc.; substitute teacher at Westside High School, 1960 era.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lucious Nettles Sr.; mother, Minnie Aaron Nettles; wife, Carrie Nettles; son, Ceasor Nettles Jr.; sister, Julia Mae Nettles; and brother, Lucious Nettles.

Ceasor leaves to mourn one son, Charles Carter (Catherine) of Valdosta; two daughters, Margaret Smith (Levell) of Bethel, Okla., and Linda Scott of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandchildren, Carla Carter and Caren Carter of Valdosta, Ceasor Nettles III of Washington, D.C., Richard of Atlanta, and other grandchildren; four great-granddaughters of Fayetteville, N.C.; adopted sister, Lillie Pate of Columbus, S.C.; brother, Ivery Nettles of Valdosta; only surviving aunt, Helen Aaron of Darlington, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Sophrina Stroughter McGarrah and Leola Bruton Stroughter of Jacksonville, Fla.; special friend, Kate Colson of Valdosta; and a host of loving nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2004, at St. Timothy AME Church with Pastor Terry McCrary officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Scott and Roberts Mortuary

Ruby Lee Fletcher, 89, of Valdosta died in Marietta on Monday, July 19, 2004, after a brief stay there. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Cecil with the Rev. Roscoe Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home



Amanda B. Routhier

Amanda B. Routhier, 97, of Quitman passed away Tuesday morning, July 20, 2004, at the Presbyterian Home after a lengthy illness. As per Mrs. Routhier’s wishes, she will be cremated and services will be held in Barre, Vermont. — Music Funeral Services, Valdosta
