William Conner McCormick
TIFTON — Dr. William Conner McCormick, 84,Tifton, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center, Tifton.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church, Tifton, with the Rev. Jerry Lillard and the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church’s Southwell parlor.
He was born July 24, 1920, at Fort White, Fla., to the late Joel Cortez McCormick and Nettie Conner McCormick.
He was a retired Coastal Plain Experiment Station worker, and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He retired in 1986 as the resident director of the Georgia Agricultural Experiment Station. He had lived in Tifton since 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Thrasher McCormick of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Don Schutt of Valdosta, Julia and Bob McKissack of Valdosta and Carol and Preston Lewis of Waynesboro; three sisters, Avaree Evans of Jacksonville, Fla., Odelle Kinat of Clermont, Fla. and Kathleen Dunagan of Pensacola, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Conner and Laura McKissack of Valdosta and Kitty Lewis of Waynesboro. — Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Fred Spurlock
LEESBURG — Fred Spurlock, 87, of Leesburg, formerly of Valdosta, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany after a lengthy illness. He was born in Hosford, Fla., on Aug. 28, 1917, to the late Will and Cynthia Elizabeth Simpson Spurlock. Mr. Spurlock was a retired farmer and was retired from Strickland Cotton Mills.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Clyde Brown Spurlock on March 4, 1980.
Mr. Spurlock is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Clyde and Angie Spurlock of Leesburg Earl and Ann Spurlock of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Chris Spurlock Trahan, Shalyn Dykes, Stephanie Spurlock and Lauren Spurlock; one great granddaughter, Madison Dykes; one brother, Raymond Spurlock of Blakely; two sisters, Lucille Mercer of Charlotte, N.C., and Mildred McFay of Edison; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Cannington officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p. m. tonight at the funeral home. — Carson McLane Funeral Home.

Price Agner
MADISON, FLA. — Joyce Venus Price Agner, 68, of Madison, Fla., died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in Valdosta.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at Barbara Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Madison, Fla. Burial will follow at Barbara Memorial Church of the Nazarene Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. tonight at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel in Madison, Fla.
Joyce was born in Louisville, Ky., and lived in Madison, Fla. Early in her marriage, Mrs. Agner held various clerical positions. From 1988 to 1993, she was a second-grade teacher’s aide in Berrien County. She was an avid and proficient quilter.
She was heavily involved in the missions work of the Church of the Nazarene, taught Sunday school, and was for 45 years a beloved pastor’s wife. She and her husband served several Nazarene churches throughout the region, including Waycross, Nashville, and Tifton Madison, Fla.
She was preceded in death by a brother, George Milton Price.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Quincy Agner of Madison, Fla.; three daughters, Katrina Faye and Dr. David Vickery of Indianapolis, Ind., Karen Dawn and the Rev. Greg Clark of Marion, Ind., and Bonnie Charissa and Kevin Brown of Elmhurst, Ill.; eight brothers, William Louis “Louie” and Katherine Price, Edward Windsor “Eddie” and Valeria Price Sr., Robert Earl and Elizabeth Patterson, Daniel Stephen Price, all from Lousiville Ky., Michael Kenneth “Mike” and Rylma Price of Brownsivlle, Texas, Jerry Dennis and Patricia Price of Lexington, Ky., the Rev. Jonathan Christopher “John” Price of Shady Hills, Fla., and William Prather “Billy” Price Jr. of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Barbara Ann and David Pearce Jr. of Crestwood, Ky., and Brooksville, Fla., Margaret Rose Welke of Louisville, Ky. and Linda Gail and Bill Kinard of Tupelo, Miss.; nine grandsons, Ryan Eugene and Becky Vickery, Peter Owen Vickery, Nathan James Vickery, Benjamin Elias Vickery, all of Indianapolis, Ind., Robert David Vickery of West Chicago, Ill., Brian Christopher Clark, Brandon Michael Clark, Chad Anthony Clark, Cory Adam Clark, all of Madison, Ind.; four granddaughters, Kelsi Lynn Brown, Kari Joy Brown, all of Elmhurst, Ill., Allison Danae Vickery of Indianapolis, Ind., and Kelli Christine Clark of Marion, Ill.; and a great-granddaughter, Mia Katherine Vickery. — Beggs Funeral Home, Madison, Fla.

Fayrene B. “Sweat” Ussery, 71, of Valdosta passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in the South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held today in the Corinth Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. — Music Funeral Services of Valdosta.

William Edward Roach, 40, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Concord Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Morgan Harrison, the Rev. Elbert Cox and Elder Buck Wood officiating.
