Joe Anthony Cuellar

LAKE PARK — Joe Anthony Cuellar, 3, of Lake Park, died Friday, July 8, 2005, in Tallahassee, Fla., from injuries sustained in an accident.

He was born on March 11, 2002, in Valdosta to Jose A. Leal and Gabriela Cuellar.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include five sisters, Vanessa Leal, Daisy Cuellar, Jessica Leal, Kimberly Cuellar and Shelly Cuellar, all of Lake Park; his grandparents, Alberto and Ludivine Cuellar of Homestead, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Irene Leal.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, in the McLane Lakewood Chapel in Lake Park. Burial will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery.

Annie Clara Evans

VALDOSTA — Annie Clara Evans, 57, of Valdosta, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born on Dec. 12, 1947, in Jacksonville, Fla., to Irene McLane Durrance and the late Fred Durrance and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Evans owned and operated a daycare service and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Dewey Evans of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Sr. and Ann Evans of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Eddy Woodfin and Sonya Rivera and Elwood Godwin, all of Valdosta; her mother, Irene Durrance of Valdosta; and six grandchildren, Stanley Evans Jr., Ashley Evans, April Evans, Jack Schroepfer Jr., Jayme Woodfin, and Edwin Rivera Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Durrance, and her granddaughter, Harley Woodfin.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at the Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Alton Hardee, the Rev. Milton Sellars and the Rev. James Young officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

Quitman Fender

BLAIRSVILLE — David Quitman Fender, 71, of Blairsville, formerly of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Blairsville following a short illness.

A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Fender was born March 18, 1934, son of Fisher and Sara Joyce Fender. He retired from the paper mill in Clyattville after 42 years of employment and moved to Blairsville, where he lived for the past six years. His wife, Mary Eliza McDuffie Fender, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Sasnett and husband David of Pinetta, Fla.; three sons, Roger Fender and wife Jeanne of Bedford, Texas, Ronnie Fender of Blairsville and Johnny Fender of Blairsville; a sister, Mary Manning of Woodbine; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services and interment for Mr. Fender will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, at New Bethel Cemetery with the Rev. Carlie Lastinger officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson. — Relihan Funeral Home.



Stephanie LeAnn Boyette Jackson

LAKELAND — Stephanie LeAnn Boyette Jackson, 26, of Lakeland, passed away early Thursday morning, July 7, 2005, at the Hospice of Golden Isles in Brunswick after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 14, 1978, in Hahira. She loved running and exercising and was a member of the Breast Feeding Support Group. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lakeland.

Survivors include her husband, Jason Jackson of Lakeland; a daughter, Mykaila Jackson of Lakeland; father and stepmother, Timothy and Laura Boyette of Valdosta; mother and stepfather, Robin and Charles Mizell of Lakeland; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Elizabeth Jackson of Brunswick; a brother and sister-in-law, Matthew and Stephanie Boyette of Dublin; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Terry Fendig of Brunswick and Kari and A.J. Jackson of Brunswick; two half-sisters, Christi Carrot and Nickie Carrot of Lakeland; grandparents, Hansel and Connie Boyette of Lakeland and Gary and Myra Zietz of Crescent; a niece and nephew; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Hospice of Golden Isles Inc., 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga., 31525.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. today at the North Valdosta Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses with Elder Terry Allen officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

‘Tinker’ Jordan

NASHVILLE — Mary Ann “Tinker” Jordan, 25, of Nashville, passed away early Friday, July 8, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born Dec. 10, 1979, in Hahira. She worked as a cashier for several convenient stores in the area and was Baptist by faith.

Survivors include her mother, Jamie Jordan Conger of Nashville; two brothers, John Jordan and Cody Eubanks of Nashville; and a number of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, in the Lakeland chapel of Music Funeral Services with Rev. Mickey Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Vickers Cemetery in Berrien County.

Robert Monroe ‘Bear’ Swanson

NASHVILLE — Robert Monroe “Bear” Swanson, 68, of Nashville, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Born on Nov. 24, 1936, in Berrien County to the late James Robert “Jim Bob” Swanson and Mildred Evelyn Keeffe, Robert served his beloved community in many ways.

For many years, he cut hair at the old city barbershop in Nashville and was currently operating Swanson’s Barber Shop in Lakeland with his wife. He operated the Nashville service station and wrecker service for several years before becoming a deputy sheriff under the late Sheriff Walter Gaskins. Robert himself was later elected sheriff of Berrien County and also worked as a truck driver before reentering the barber business.

Robert was a true outdoor sportsman and loved to fish. He served in the United States Navy, assigned to Mobile Construction Battalion Three (Seebees).

He was a mason and member of the Nashville First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Madine Stone Swanson of Nashville; daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and David Mullis of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Jacki Swanson of Hahira; step-son, Steve (Stephanie) Jones of Canton; a stepdaughter, Sheila (Greg) Duskin of Irmo, S.C.; a half-brother, Sam Gore of Darien; nephew, Donald (Tamala) Swanson of Norman Park; granddaughters, Nicole, Brittany, and Davah Mullis; grandson, Landon James Garrett Swanson; step-grandsons, Jake and Zachary Duskin and Bryson and Eric Jones; and additional nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Pete Swanson.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Jones and the Rev. Junior Swain officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Agnes Wilkerson

WILLACOOCHEE — Earnie Agnes Wilkerson, 89, of Willacoochee, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 25, 1916, in Berrien County, she was the daughter of the late Dave Wilkerson and Missouri Tyson. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include five sisters, Mary Jean Mullis of Middleburg, Fla., Opel Mancil of Willacoochee, Elma Byrd of Willacoochee, Ann Cloude of Orlando, Fla., and Onita Johnson of Douglas; one brother and sister-in-law, Olin Charles and Lula Wilkerson of Nashville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. Wilkerson and T.J. Wilkerson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005, in the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Day officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
