Dorothy R. Adcock
DU QUOIN, Ill. — Dorothy R. Adcock, 85, of Du Quoin, Ill. passed away at 1 a.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Dorothy was an L.P.N. She was also a C.N.A. instructor for South Georgia Medical Center. She had worked as an L.P.N. at the Pinckneyville Community Hospital and for Dr. Cawvey for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin. Dorothy had lived and worked in Kankakee, Ill., before returning to the Du Quoin area, then to Valdosta, Ga., before returning again to Du Quoin.
She was born April 21, 1919, in St. Johns, Ill., the daughter of L. Stanley and Nellie J. (Moore) Baxter. She married William C. Adcock on March 19, 1940, in St. Genevieve, Mo. and he preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1988.
She is survived by one son, David R. Adcock and wife Jane of Eagle Rock, Mo.; one sister, Audrey Manis and husband James of Du Quoin; one son-in-law, Richard Prairie of Valdosta; four grandchildren, Cathy L. Sims, John W. Prairie and Michael Prairie, all of the Valdosta area, and William S. Adcock of Morris, Ill.; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Janet E. Prairie, and one infant son, William S. Adcock.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2005, at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Steve Bareis officiating.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin. Interment will be held in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.

Fae McLean Hall
HAHIRA — Fae McLean Hall, 70, of Hahira died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at her home. She was born on May 16, 1934, and was a lifelong resident of Hahira. Mrs. Hall owned and managed her own farm for many years. She enjoyed square dancing, genealogy, world travels and needlework. She was married to the late Bobby Lee Hall and was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ashley Hall.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Martin Hardy of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; son, Roland Felton Lee Hall of Atlanta; three granddaughters, Hannah Carole Fay Hall, Lillian Elizabeth Lee Hall and Amelia Rachel Hope Hall, all of Augusta; one sister and brother-in-law, Dot and Terry Hall of Hahira; one brother, D.G. McLean of Hahira; two nephews, Andy Hall and Adam Hall; three nieces, Lydia Hall, Tracy Hall Wellman and Penny Hall Nowell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2005, in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Austin Herring
ADEL — Austin Herring, 56, Adel,died April 5, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on April 1, 1949, in Worth County to Benjamin Quinton and Wilma Gay Herring, who preceded him in death. He lived in Adel for the last 15 years and was an electrician with Peach State Homes in Adel.
He is survived by three children, Mindy, Austin and Garrett; three sisters, Cheryl and Terry Brooks of Sylvester, Gail and Roger Watson, Valdosta, Gay and Damon Tate, Sylvester; three brothers, R.L. and Charlotte Herring, Albany, Larry Herring, Sylvester, Ronnie and Charlotte Herring, Lilburn; and a sister-in-law, Carol Herring, Atlanta.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Herring was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Herring.

Daniel ‘Dan’ Cone Johnson
JASPER. Fla. — Daniel “Dan Cone Johnson, 77, of Jasper, Fla., passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Suwannee Valley Nursing Center. Johnson was born in White Springs, Fla., on May 3, 1927. He worked for the Miami Herald for 25 years and retired to Jasper in 1974, where he worked another 13 years for Occidental (PCS). Johnson was a member of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Posse and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He and his wife were faithful members of the First Baptist Church in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Johnson, Jasper; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy Johnson, Edgewater, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Roger Corbett, Jasper; five grandchildren, Desiree, John, Stephanie, Tony and Brett; four great-grandchildren, Sky, Justin, Aiden and Zachary.

Alice W. Jackson
VALDOSTA — Alice W. Jackson, 73, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born in Lowndes County to the late Jim and Elise Greene Welch, she was retired from Owens Illinois Bag Plant as an inspector and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Gary Caudle of Lake Park; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Judy Jackson of Quitman, and Rod Jackson of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Jim and Amy Caudle of Lake Park, Joy Caudle of Lake Park, Vicki and Doug Oliver of Valdosta, Tammy and Jason Price of Memphis, Tenn., Monica Williams of Valdosta; three great-grandchildren, Savannah Oliver of Valdosta, Joshua and Tyler Price of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles and Gloria Jackson of Valdosta, Steve and Bobbie Baird of Brandford, Fla., Anita Brown of Valdosta, Janice Dennis of Palm Beach, Fla., Ann Welch of Port Richie, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Belmont Jackson.
A graveside service for Alice W. Jackson will be held on Friday, April 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Benevolence Baptist Church.
