Eric D. Alderman

VALDOSTA — Eric D. Alderman, 24, of 2003 Northside Drive in Valdosta, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 22 at New Greater Union Ministries of Valdosta with the Rev. Wade S. McCrae officiating and the Rev. Robert Jones assisting. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Strong Memorial Gardens in Moultrie. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Born May 18, 1980, in Vidalia, Mr. Alderman was the son of Katrina Alderman Royal and Anderson Greg Carr.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Raymond ‘Magic’ Hurbert; a grandfather, Willie F. Alderman Sr.; two sets of great-grandparents, Henry and Ezzie Alderman and Luke P. Sr. and Mamie Strong; and one uncle, Kenneth W. Alderman.

Survivors include his mother, Katrina Alderman Royal of Valdosta; two grandmothers, Christine Strong Alderman of Moultrie and Sarah Carr of Trenton, N.J.; one brother, Courtney Alderman of Tifton; one sister, Kristin Royal of Macon; his father, Anderson Greg Carr of Trenton; his stepfather, Timothy Royal of Macon; two uncles, Willie F. Alderman Jr. and wife Janice of Valdosta and Stanley Alderman and wife Cynthia of Moultrie; two godbrothers, Kenneth Revels of Atlanta and Curtis “Dez” Kimmons of Valdosta; a special uncle and aunt, Charles and Mary Rhym of Morven; two special aunts, Viki Herring of Atlanta and Valica Sampson of Valdosta; and a host of other uncles and aunts, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 21 at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.

The body will be available for viewing Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at New Greater Union Ministries of Valdosta. — Luke Strong and Son Mortuary



Jimmie Iris Pierce Myers

LAKELAND — Jimmie Iris Pierce Myers, 91, of Yuba City, Calif., passed away on Jan. 14, 2005, at her daughter’s residence in Yuba City after a short illness. She led a full and happy life of 91 years. She was a devout Christian, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to her family. Iris was a friend of all people, and lived her life serving others with her love and kindness. She was born on Nov. 28, 1913, in Lanier County and graduated from Lanier County High School in 1930. She remained in Lakeland until she moved to California to be close to her daughter, Christine. She had a great love for the environment and always had her garden of flowers and vegetables to share with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Clara Lynn; husband, Hubert Myers; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Pierce and one sister, Clara Lee.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Gary Clark, Yuba City, Calif.; three granddaughters, Janet Lynn Brendlin, Mesa, Ariz., April Ellen (Larry) Dale, Nicolaus, Calif., Krista (Michael) Sullivan, Lone Pine, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Julie Rae, Brandon and Richard McKray, Kaytlyn and Kelsey Dale, Garrett and Luke Sullivan; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen Pierce and Harmon Royal, Lakeland; one nephew, Bo Royal; and four nieces, Claire Royal Dollar, Patricia Leeson, Jeanne Coon, Molly Evelyn Myers Wittman.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in the chapel of Music Funeral Services in Lakeland with burial in Fender Cemetery in Lanier County.

M.A. Studstill

RAY CITY — M.A. Studstill, 84, of Ray City passed away early Wednesday morning, Jan. 19, 2005, at the Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center in Lakeland after a lengthy illness. He was born in Berrien County, and had lived in Ray City most of his life. He was a builder by trade, his only hobby was working. He served our country in the Navy Seabee’s during WWII and was a member of the Nashville VFW post. He was a faithful member of the Ray City United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eugenia G. Studstill, Ray City; son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Pat Studstill, Ray City; two grandchildren, Dane and Stefaine Studstill, Kingsland, Ga., Kimberlee and H.J. Stone, Ray City; five great-grandchildren, Amanda Stone, Ashley Stone, Kyle Stone, all of Ray City, Johnathan and Krysta Studstill, Kingsland; two sisters, Lucille Morris, Lakeland, Ga., Virginia Loyed, Dothan, Ala.; sister-in-law, Mary George Bynum, Fitzgerald; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at the Ray City United Methodist Church with burial following in Beaver Dam Cemetery in Ray City. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
