Students inducted into national honor society

VALDOSTA — A total of 39 Valdosta State University students were recently inducted into Chapter 156 of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.
Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest and most prestigious honor society in the country that is open to students in all academic fields.
Election is based primarily upon scholarship with sound character considered.
Juniors must have a minimum GPA of 3.85 for selection. Seniors must have a minimum GPA of 3.75.
Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is one of the highest academic honors which may be bestowed upon a student at VSU.
The inductees were Angela Benefield, Elena Paige Bennett, Kevin Joseph Blackston, Julie Kathleen Bland, Jessica Lynn Bowen, Patrice Rebecca Braun, Andrea M. B. Brockman, Desdamona M. Butler, Jacqueline Elaine Caldwell, Robin L. Cannon, Megan Elaine Clubine, April Michelle Cox, Lin M. Crider, Katherine Cole Ganas, Lindsey Rebecca Giddens, Sherrie L. Graham, Robert Andrew Griffin, Brendan D. Griffis, Katie Lee Hiers, Amy L. Housemeyer, Margaret R. Jackson, Sonya Johnson, Justin M. Jury, Kelly Marie Land, Meredith B. Middleton, Kristen E. Newcomb, V. Keely Norman, Shalamar Junna Parham, Stacey Marie Pittman, Katrice Lorraine Register, Terry Michael Rewis, Erin N. Roberts, Karen Lynn Shultz, Erin S. Thompson, Paula Suzanne Tomberlin, Ashley Veasey, Paige Vickers, Benjamin Martin Worley, and Nikki Young.
Dr. Martha M. Giddings, director of VSU’s Division of Social Work, offered the keynote address. Lauren A. Braun, a 2002 inductee, was presented the Chapter Award, which is given annually to an outstanding recent graduate and inductee who demonstrates outstanding potential for future intellectual development.
