Our Opinion: So many holiday events to choose from

This weekend features another full slate of holiday activities taking place in Valdosta and in our neighboring cities. Before complaining there is nothing to do, be sure to check this schedule of events:
Hahira’s Christmas Bazaar
Hahira’s Christmas Bazaar begins at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hahira’s downtown area. Booths will be set up through 5 p.m. on Main Street. The Christmas parade begins at 3 p.m. For information, call Carol Jacobs at 794-3097.
Lake Park Holiday Festival
In Lake Park, the Holiday Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 120 Essa St. Hot chocolate, homemade treats, handmade crafts and Santa Claus will be among the main attractions. Lake Park’s Christmas parade kicks off at 3:30 p.m. and makes its way down Marion Avenue. For information, call the Lake Park Area Chamber of Commerce at 559-5302.
Toys for Tots Car Show and Toy Drive
In Valdosta, the Toys for Tots Car Show and Toy Drive runs from 2-7 p.m. Saturday in the Toys “R” Us parking lot at 1200 N. St. Augustine Road. Proceeds go to Toys for Tots to raise money and toys for local children. Kids will have a chance to meet mascot Geoffrey the Giraffe, Star Wars characters, and have pictures taken with Santa.
Plays
“Fruitcakes”
Lowndes High School Off-Broadway’s “Fruitcakes” plays at 7 p.m. Saturday in the theatre/lecture room at Lowndes High School, off St. Augustine Road.
“Too Wrapped Up for Christmas”
Theatre Guild Valdosta’s “Too Wrapped Up for Christmas” plays at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The Dosta Playhouse, 122 N. Ashley St. Tickets are $3, general admission, open seating. For information, call 24-STAGE.
Handel’s “Messiah”
First Christian Church and Trinity Presbyterian present Handel’s “Messiah” at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ, 1905 N. Patterson St. Admission is free and open to the public.
