Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office added another deputy as they strive to bring the number up to an adequate force to cover the county.
Deputy Chad Gurr, wife Leigh and three children moved to Lafayette County to be near family (mom Jenny and step-dad Bob Annin).
Gurr has years of experience in law enforcement having worked with Leon and Wakulla Sheriff’s Departments prior to his move to Mayo.
“I initially started with the Marine Patrol after meeting a gentleman that was associated with that department, but shortly switched over to law enforcement with the Sheriff’s Office,” said Gurr.
He said law enforcement is a very rewarding job, especially in a smaller town like Mayo where you feel close to the residents.
“Protecting them is very important to me and I look forward to serving the people” Gurr said.
