The death of Stephen Paul Yardy, 52, of Lafayette County continues to be an open investigation by Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said Sheriff Carson McCall.
McCall said, “We’re awaiting the final results of the autopsy and toxicology report before a determination of the cause of death can be released.”
Yardy was found dead outside his home on CR 420 Wednesday, March 9 at about 1 p.m. by a well driller.
LCSO Captain John Young said Yardy, who lived alone, had moved to the county about a month ago from the St. Petersberg area.
Young said anytime a questionable death occurs it must be treated as a homicide. That process includes calling Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) who process the scene as was done in Yardy’s death.
McCall and Young said no foul play is suspected at this point but when you have a questionable death you must not rule out anything.
